Best Budget Compact Non-Rechargeable Battery Torch

Hi Guys

I’m kinda new to Torch’s, I’m involved with scouts and require a small torch to put in the first-aid kit.

The priority is Simplicity, Reliability and Longevity as this may be used in emergency situations.

Requirements;

Budget (under $35)

Compact and portable torch

Longest Runtime as possible (to reduce replacing batteries)

Uses Regular store bought batteries (simplifys so someone else can replace dead batteries)

and is bright enough for camping, hiking and outdoors

Please feel free to make any comments or suggestions regarding my requirements.

    My old go-to was the cree c3 AA. Look it up 😉

    Not sure if there's anything newer and better

  • I got one of these recently. Wasn't expecting much but it's turned out to be a really good touch. Can't comment on long term longevity but battery life is good and it's very bright.

    Budget light forum is where you want to go if you are an enthusiast.
    Members there arranged production of a AAA torch with a bright LED in a durable steel body for pretty cheap.
    I have 5 or 6 of them and give them out at camping. They are the best I have ever used in terms of brightness/weight/size/battery life. About $10 delivered, and well worth it.

    EDIT, looks like it is now a couple of dollars dearer $8.83USD + shipping:

    Consider a headlamp if you're looking at using it for first aid and camping. Having both hands free is a huge bonus in these situations. Can't recommend a specific model but all of mine are Petzl which I think start at about $50

  • I like the Milwaukee penlight. Bright enough for my needs, good natural light colour temperature, batteries last and very well built. I use one for work and have one for around the house. Sell for around the $27 point.
