It lets you have dual neon red or dual neon blue joy cons if you bought a neon switch.

That controller can only be used in handheld mode and lacking various features of the actual Joy-Con.
Also, it's not exactly the same dimensions of a real Joy-con so it won't fix in your favourite grip/protection case. :(

Noob question: can you use these with a Switch Lite so my kids can play games together?
You can connect other wireless controls to the switch. So if you buy these joy cons, or you want to buy a Switch Pro Control they will all connect to a switch lite.

I get it that it’s much better on a normal Switch, plugged into the TV but lacking that you could put the Lite on the table and have 2 kids hover around it with their joycons or not?
Yes, you can do that.
@aja12: There is no kickstand though so you'll need to prop it up against something to play on the table. being that it has a small screen, playing multiplayer games will be quite hard. The Switch Lite main purpose is to be a more portable ( due to it's the smaller size) single-payer handheld device without all the bells and whistles that made the original Switch… a Switch. That is why it doesn't have a kickstand or connect to the TV, it is not made for one device multiplayer.
Another noob question, does the switch not come with these controllers? I was thinking to buy switch for my kids so not exactly sure. Would someone please guide?
If its the standard switch, they come with a set of these. But they released alternate colours so people often would buy another pair to have or to use for multiplayer.
But you get 2 of these when you buy a switch.
They come with the opposite colours, blue left red right. It's for people who wants matching colours.
Good price but damn joycons suck. We have 2 pairs and had to send in for repair 5 or 6 times.
