What's going on with the comments section.

    Great game, thanks OP

What about the PC version? ToT

  • Anyone know the trade-in price on this at EB Games? I have the PS4 version but want the XB1X version.

    • $51.20 - https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/xbox-one/223586-red-dead-…
So better off buying new unless you have EB credits.

I don't think the save games can be transferred so you are willing to replay the whole game? I have XB1X version, and as much as I like this game, I've only replayed certain sections multiple times (mainly the end of chapter 6 to try out different clothing and different endings).

      • I mean how much I would get for trade in. I never finished it on PS4.

        • Guessing 50% of that. It's not an exclusive game.

Call eb customer support. Don't see why XB1X version would make a huge difference.

          • @netsurfer: I’m asking about the trade in of the PS4 version. Thanks though.

            • @theguyrules: just call a stote and ask, they will tell u. easily done.
i traded in anout 3 months ago for about $30 inc bonuses. i would gess about $20 is thesedays.

            • @theguyrules: I know.. I am guessing you might get around $26 for it (EB sell both versions for the same price - new and pre-owned) so you will get the same price for trade in. The question is do you take cash or EB credits? Cash tends to be less, EB credits… well, I struggle to find things worth buying from EB right now.

Still don't know why you want to spend money to switch to XB1X version. Honestly, if the issue is you want the best graphics, I'd reckon just wait. Maybe there will be a PC version.

              • @netsurfer: Actually yeah you’re right. I won’t get the Xb1X version. I’ll get bogged down on the early parts of the game if I try start it again.

Do you need to have played the first game to 'get' the story in the second?

    • +4

No need. RDR2 is the story BEFORE RDR1. I didn't play RDR1 before RDR2. Enjoyed the game a lot (though I do have to nitpick it a bit - there is a bit of pacing issue). There are youTube videos which give you a quick rundown of RDR1.

Recently bought RDR1 (to play on XB1X using back compat)… played about 15-20 minutes…. then due to other new games, it is in the backlog. RDR2 though, was eager to play through. Got it at launch day through EB $29 offer (had to trade in 2 games worth $10 each).

If you have XB1X, this is pretty much one of the must play game.

The only problem with playing this game is that it sets the bar way too high, almost every other open world 3rd person game feels cheap now. Eg: i just started playing assassins creed odyssey and while it is a good game with good graphics, it doesnt stand a chance compared to red dead 2. im also surprised how good the game looks on an aging xbox one console, they've really done an amazing job. the graphics are what i would expect from a pc. if and when it comes to pc it will definitely look 11/10 amazing.

    • Yes, agreed. That's one issue with this game. I have the same issue. Hard to get into playing AC:O. My expectation has been raised quite high now. It's kinda good as I reckon I won't buy so-so games from now on.

    • +1

I loved RDR2, but witcher 3 is better

      • This. I liked RDR2 but it was not close to the likes of GoW and Witcher 3. I got bored halfway through the game, I havent played RDR1 but still felt like I wasn't playing something entirely new (reminded me a lot of GTA, just a different setting and less over the top).

  • Credit to this mob for somehow keeping a high value on their games.

Unlike everything else which drops from $69 release day to $29 3 weeks later e.g. every Assasin's Creed game

    • Still want BOTW (switch version) for < $50

  • +5

Started playing, realised I spent over 1hr trying to hit a rabbit with my bow, turned it off and sold the game. Too much work.

    • +4

the game is a veeeeery slow burn, which can come as a shock in an age where most games are so fast paced. you do get used to it after a while, this is more about the journey than the destination.

      • +1

I agree. Heck my rdr1 started in 2011 on the 360 and only finished this yes on the xbonex. Slow burn. But dang it’s worth it!!

  • Τέλειο παιχνίδι με τέλεια τιμή!

    Terrible game, terrible price!

    Did I do it right?

  • How long would it take to finish, or how long did people play it for? I don't get much time for games these days, still working on finishing botw after starting it last July. My game designer friends didn't like it because it was such a slow burn.

    • +3

If you just stick with main story line and do the bare minimum: 50-60 hours
Stick with the main story with a bit of side quest or very little legendary animal hunting: 70-80 hours.

I checked my stats (played last year): 107 hours in total (not sure whether that stats include online, which was quite annoying). I used the gold cheat (chapter 2), and the horse cheat (after chapter 6 - due to forgetting to put enough gold bars in my satchel). Both cheats have been patched. Did a little bit of legendary animal hunting and some special item hunting. Also played the final 2 missions of chapter 6 about 10 times (to capture different cut scenes at the end of chapter 6 with different outfit, look, honor combo, 1080p and 4K captures).

    • +5

To reduce slow burn (not for RDR1 fan, because this is cheating so if you don't want to cheat in single player, ignore this post):

      • Install the game with the console disconnected from Internet (this way, it won't offer you any version update) - install the very first version using the discs.
      • Play till chapter 2 until the gold bar glitch is available to you. Use it repeatedly to get the amount of money you want.
      • Buy everything for the camp (which will unlock fast travel early). You should be able to get the outfits you want.
      • Keep 30 gold bars in your satchel - (do not sell them before end of chapter 6). You could patch the game as soon as you are happy with the $ you have and 30 gold bars in your satchel.
      • (Optional) Just hunt enough to get the minimal satchel(s) you need (i.e. just the tonic satchel to boost each tonic storage to 10). This will be a slow burn.
      • Some outfits are only available when your honor rating is high enough. You also get discount from shops based on your honor level.
      • After chapter 6, once you regain access to Arthur's items (inc. satchel), sell the gold bars. Then, go buy every remaining satchels so you can get the legend of the east satchel (up to 100 per item).
      • You will lose Arthur's horses after chapter 6, so if you don't have enough gold bars (didn't put 30 bars in stachel) before chapter 6 ends but want a good horse, you could use the horse glitch at Saint Denis (but this involves re-install the game - unless you kept on playing the very first version).
  • Thanks for the post. Best price I've come across. Hopefully just as good as the first game.

    • whats the lowest you've seen RDR2 on ps4 other than on this post? Just out of curiosity

      • 53, 54 mark. Rockstar games hold value.

  • PC version when?

  • Bought it for $47 from Amazon when it was to be released, sold it for $70 after release. And now almost a year after it is stil just $45. Rockstar games surely keeps their price.

    • have you seen it around this price before? I've been holding off buying it for a year because I had such a huge backlog, but if this is the lowest its gonna get, even around Christmas, I might just get it now.

you will see here that it has not been lower than $45 but has been around it and will start to be discounted as Christmas comes.

        • Was $19.99 over the weekend on Ebay on Xbox, $14.99 with the $5 off.

          • @sabracad: did you buy it? was it delivered to you? ebay deals like that are mostly scam, it happened with Spider-Man

            • +1

@yummycoot: Didn't have to - I already own it and 28 degrees have already come to the party. It was a Aus based seller with around 100 sales 100% feedback.

              • -1

@sabracad: That's definitely a scam then. 100 sales and 100% is definitely influenced by bots

          • +1

            @sabracad: American dollars or AUD?

        • +1

@yummycoot given the pricing trends with GTAV and other Rockstar games, how low do you think it will get around Christmas?

  • but im still tied up with DoS II and havent even started Fire Emblem yet :(

  • As a PC gamer, I really hope this is going to be good (just ordered), the last of us AI was so shite.

  • Back in stock and cheaper by 1 cent!

    • Just purchased the other week, should I complain?

  • سعر ممتاز للعبة ممتازة

  • Out to $49
