I've previously submitted 2 deals that got to the top 5 pretty quickly (within a week of each other). But I never received any emails talking about the promised $40 prize (given to 2 submitters), as explained in http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:weekly_competition.
The forum that talks about this is also not there anymore (404 error). Is this still going on?
I didn't receive any communications at all. I was expecting at least an email saying the draw happened but you didn't win anything. Or, the winner of this week's competition is….

That doesn't say that the competition's been cancelled. I wish scotty will join in and give us some answers.
In effect this has been stopped for over a year. The legal issues is one of the reasons it stopped, the other being that when it stopped it seemed to just disappear off everyone's radar, and I suppose given that no one raised it as an issue, it stayed off the radar. (one example is evidenced by your query now)
And while the highest vote receiving post might be construed as ok, the random, or encouragement deal would not.
Other contributing factors where that this was "sponsored" by a number of vendors, some of whom, got some bad raps here (not saying that these raps weren't justified).
Then we were getting competition to be first to submit a deal and then the opinion, that people submit deals because they are members here, like to share a deal for the sake of helping the community grow, rather than submit just to win a prize.
Umm so you submitted 2 deals, and you are wondering why you didnt get a prize.
Or did you actually win one of the prizes and not receive it?
