    There was a beta available for Android, and people were saying that although it was advertised as playing against other people in real time, they were in fact bots

Yeah they're forcing Nintendo account this time but didn't for their past mobile games, but you'd want to tie it to your Nintendo Account for cloud save, adding your Nintendo account friends and the My Nintendo bonuses anyway.

Update on android: too much people server can't handle every one on it…. but for ios it is loading fine

The multiplayer beta is live for gold pass subscribers (you can use the free trial).

There isn't much to it at the moment though.
