Good price for a good product, got mine on the last deal for same price click and collect with Good Guys Ebay

Me too - so far very happy with mine.
Not so happy with TGG who forgot my order and eventually delivered it a week and a half late. Turns out it came from my local store so I could have click and collected and saved myself a few bucks. I only picked delivery because Ebay said my local store had no stock left.
Still waiting on my rangehood that I ordered at the same time. That item is just over two weeks past the estimated delivery time.

Slightly off topic - however I've been dealing with TGG Commercial Customer Service and they have been the absolute worst. We just want a dish washer and instead they tell us "check the website for stock availability" which then turns out that even though the website acknowledges stock is available locally, it actually isn't and requires special ordering. Definitely removing TGG from my procurement options in the future.

      • Same experience with TGG EBay purchase. Seems to be a disconnect between their EBay store and the physical store where your order is fulfilled. I have to chase up both, they pointed fingers at each other first…

      • +1

Thanks OP. Ordered one. I ordered one from TGG from a post a few weeks ago. Paid using credit card on their Ebay store however was refused to pick up until I showed them the Paypal receipt. Argued with their store staff and their "support" people stating that I don't have a paypal receipt because I paid using credit card. These guys are just a bunch of monkeys and asked for my money back.

      • I had this issue too. They offered pickup in store after I purchased through eBay. I complained on eBay feedback being charged postage when I picked it up. They refunded my postage fee which I didn't expected as I never contacted anyone at the store about it.

    • Wasn't it $84.15 last time? That's what I got it for. So this deal is actually cheaper.

Great product indeed. I'm using Google Assistance more than I expected, even though it's only for weather for now.

    • How good is it in a bedroom, is it too bright at night? Thanks.

      • Brightness is adjustable in settings. Not too bright at all.

    • Could please give me the specs of the wall plug? Thanks

I bought one for my daughter to replace the prehistoric clock she had (the ones with red numbers and the rotary dial for the radio lol) and was surprised how small it was. Never saw one in store and just assumed it was the size of a Google Hub. Nice clock though.

Probably worthwhile mentioning this has a 4" touchscreen.

Is this any good. Should I get Echo 5 or this?

    • yes, want to know too? (Echo 5 $103.20 after code)
      https://www.binglee.com.au/amazon-b07kd7tjd8-echo-show-5-cha…
      Bigger screen 5.5"
Personalise the home screen with your favourite photos
Connect to Alexa (good and bad)
      more popular and more features?

    • +2

Worth noting - this might seem obvious but its primary function is an clock and it does it very well.

Brightness auto adjusts and can adjust to a very low brightness at night. Sound quality not as good as the larger devices obviously, but pretty good for its size. Much better sound than my previous sony clock.

As stated this is a clock so the screen size comparison shouldnt be too relevant. You cant watch movies on this or load apps etc but its a very nice device to have at your bedside.

Google hub and echo 5 = better if you want to play media
Lenovo - better as a clock than the echo

      • Thanks mate - good review.

Lenovo good for bedside and Echo good / well-suited option for other places around the home. 👍🏻

I replaced a DAB clock radio with this unit and I have to say the quality of radio I get through the Lenovo is much better than the clock radio.
I suspect it is because the DAB signal the radio was using was pretty low bandwidth - where the radio I get through the Lenovo is streamed via I[heart]radio - so the sound is good.
Just in case someone is interested.

    if only this ran alexa

What does a smart clock do exactly? My daughter is starting high school next year and she definitely needs to get an alarm clock to replace her current one (her mum!).

Do I get her something like this or a smart watch? I don't know a lot about technology.

    • it's pretty much a google home mini with a display that tells the time

      • +1

Minus the camera. Some might prefer that in a bedroom.

Decent review of it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAwGj_aBlS4

So it’s got a microphone in it?

Definitely not going on my bedroom. You’d better hope it has a good security update policy or it’s basically waiting to be hacked.

A touch-screen version would definitely be preferable.

    • This YouTube video may help explain things. I'm thinking about one for my mum. https://youtu.be/5Fd-WCNrDjI

I got one of these - it's really cool and easy to use and works great combined with a chromecast and other home enabled stuff.

I'm going to try an OW price beat….

    • Good luck :D Let us know how it goes

      • Exactly what I was going to comment, please keep us posted and in case you go through, please upload the receipt!

    • if they accept price beat, then i can even do afterpay with OW..fingercrossed

      • +2

if you need afterpay to buy a $80 clock then perhaps your problem is not the lack of clock..

    • OW rep couldn't say no quick enough when "Bing Lee" was barely out of my gob. He reckons they price beat because they are grey imports so they as a rule don't price match Bing Lee.

I haven't looked up the product number from eBay to check this particular item.

I'll drop by JB HiFi on the way home and try my luck. They have it for $99 at the moment - I'll give them the "do it for $80 - I'll get it." and show them the Bing Lee listing. I'll see how I go….

      Otherwise, can do without….

        • It's not even a grey according to the product code on BL's ebay listing. It's sold out now so it doesn't really matter, but I'm still going to try JB - why not…?

the OW's guy was pretty cold. Wouldn't get into it with him anyway.

          • @Hotchips: I found OW's price match policy a complete POS.
It really put me off ever using them again for a price match.

      • +1

Giddy up! JB HiFi come through again! (Springfield, QLD). Asked for price match, showed the guy the BL eBay listing, he said he wasn't sure, took it to the counter and got the girl to run it through to check - no problems!

      • As if Bing Lee is selling grey import stock. They're not Kogan or Tempe tyres.

    • anyone tried JB? thinking i may swing by later and give it a go so I can avoid delivery + waiting.

  • Will do - but have a damn meeting. Will be an hour or so….

  • Thanks OP - was waiting for a deal on these for the bedrooms at home - grabbed three.

  • Ok this thing is tiny. Its a 4" screen the size of a box of panadol

  • Went into JB store and have a look
    The screen is really tiny
Good for a clock / google assistant
But don’t expect much to do on the screen

  • Don’t forget Cashback from cash rewards, shop back

    • It's back in stock now, I just grabbed my one.

  • Thanks. I just got one.

  • Thanks OP, got one, just waiting to C&C
