NBA Annual League Pass 2019-2020 Season L1200 (~$71 AUD) @ NBA.com (VPN Req.)

2210

The NBA Season is starting soon and this is the cheapest option that I can find. It comes to 1200 Honduran Lempira or US 49.99. These are the 2 currency that you can choose from to pay (that comes to AU $71.00 using XE Currency Converter) . The only paying option is by Credit Card.

You only need to use a VPN with an Honduras IP Address while you signing up to get this deal but NO VPN is needed to watch the games afterwards.

The VPN that you can use is free. It is called Urban Free VPN proxy Unblocker - Google Chrome extension

But you can use any VPN that you like that has Honduras on it's Servers list.

In last year favorite NBA League Pass VPN destination Argentina the price has gone up to 3900 Argentine Pesos or US $89.99 (that comes to AU $101.00 using XE Currency Converter)

Update:

For anyone that has trouble with their VPN finding Hoduras can download this free Speedify VPN or any other VPN and choose South Africa as their destination

Yes, I could not view resticted articles reserved for LP with Indian IP. For $20 a year and a few seconds of inconvenience(connect India VPN, start NBA app, select video, pause video, disconnect/close VPN app, resume video play)… I still go with India LP and savings good for another streaming service like Disney+. I watch via Voda Tv, android/apple mobile devices and PC

          • @kuripot: I'm new to the NBA.
Asking for someone who was asking me to share the costs.

            So what's LP?
And is it better to get the above (this deal) or VPN through india?

            • @NGPriest:

              I'm new to the NBA.

              National Basketball Association

              • @tempura: So LP is the best you can get?

Or is there something higher? Like front row seats? :p

      • I did this last season. Worked a treat :)

        • So you bought it via India?

And needing to use Indian VPN to start the stream?

      • This is how I get my NBA fix as well. Considering how much you save it's a very minor inconvenience.

    • I got it for around $20 though India. I just need to connect to an Indian vpn to start up the app on my phone. Then I stream it to my chromecast TV which uses the local aussie servers. Been doing for 2 seasons now and its worth it for the minor hassle.

NBA clearly need to refocus their marketing efforts in Honduras, they certainly didn't realise they had so many followers there :D

    U absolute legend.

  • Thanks OP!

Also for those who have current sub… does it automatically update after the current one ends? Still seeing mine to end at 2019.

    • You should have received an email with the cut off date…

"Your NBA League Pass subscription will renew for the 2019-20 season on September 26th, 2019. As a loyal customer, we're offering you a 10% discount on this season's price, with no action required by you to enjoy the discount and continue your access. The billing information on file will be charged 3,510 ARS, that’s 10% off the regular price, available exclusively for you."

If I don't end the subscription and continue on, it's about $90 AUD.

      • Yeah I did get that… this one is 75AUD through PayPal. I just bought another one but still not updated my Subscription so I'm wondering if the current one has to end first then the new one will kick in.

        • Oh… that i'm not sure about. I would just end the current subscription to be safe personally.

          • +1

@SupaStarStatus: Yeah true.. I pulled the trigger a bit too fast I reckon haha… I'm too scared to message support to check as they might cancel it lmao.

            • @westzod: mine's not updated as well after I paid using my cc. No transaction recorded yet so I wonder if I need to cancel current subscription first then resubscribe. Does anyone know?

              • @Bjay: Okay I took a leap of faith and messaged their support chat. They saw the new sub and they said it will update end of this month for me. Everyone might be different tho.

                • @westzod: I had a chat with a guy from the website and was told that my payment didn't go through and I need to opt back to auto renew to get the discount they're offering. Can't tell the guy I'm renewing via Honduras. LOL. What to do? Make another account maybe?

                  • @Bjay: I mean you could wait… I tried the PayPal suggestion and that worked (got the email confirmation). If not, I think a new account won't hurt.

                    • @westzod: Tried paypal and it's all good. Thanks

      • +1

I got the same email but mine was 20% off down to 3120 ARS which is $80.85 right now.

      • +2

So i had a chat with the NBA customer service.
If you're using the same account as last season to purchase this one. (Even though you cancel subscription your account is still active until 1st November 2019, as a result you cant purchase any new subs until it goes inactive).

That's why you're getting the payment errors.
If your card/paypal confirmation shows you already paid, i was told it would return back to you 1-3 business days.

"There are no new purchases on the account as you already have an active subscription. Any previous attempt had failed. Once your subscription becomes inactive as of November 1 you are able to make a purchase, so you still have a month and a half of access to League Pass at this time. Any failed attempt may show as a pending charge or authorization hold that would be released by your bank in 1-3 business days. As you can see below any attempt made on September 16 for a new subscription purchase had failed in our system"

I'm gonna wait until i get the money back before trying again
But until then i suggest Creating a new Account incase the deal ends??

        • I'm in the same boat as you. I will wait until my Paypal funds come back. I doubt the deal will end as it looks to be the regular price for a subscription via Honduras.

  • I can't seem to get far on the site itself.

Took ages to create an account and now when I enter credit card details it says payment pending then just sits there on a loaded screen with nothing happening.

I'm using latest Chrome - the suggested VPN and no script /ad blockers.

    Should I try new VPN?

    • You can try Guatemala as your destination, it works out same (380 Guatemalan Quetzal = AU $71.78 using XE Currency Converter)

      • Hmm, d doesn't seem to be a money thing.
If shows up as the cheap "lp" currency. Just getting through the screens seems to mess up
I'll try different browsers and VPN.

I'm so keen to get into the nba properly again.

So sick of football. Hate most teams and the corruption is just too much. At least the nba tries to hide it

        • its the throughput of the vpn. it is terrible and free for a reason. generally a bad idea to use.

          • @abuch47: As an ongoing thing or even one time was bad?

            I got it set up.

Posters mentioned changing currency on Choice of subscription screen.

            All working now

the table of the cheapest countries for NBA LP generally comes out b4 the season starts

  • Do I need to a VPN to watch or just to sign up for the deal?

    • +1

      Just to sign up

      • -2

then half way the season, your Aussie IP got blocked °°°

  • -4

I need some clarification on this as I have paid full AUD price for LP the past 2 years. I have NordVPN however I need to understand if I can sign up using the VPN and watch the content on my default connection? I watch NBA on a multitude of devices (tablet, phone, console, PC (home and work) and need to know I dont need a VPN to watch.

    • +2

      Read the comments

    • Depends on which country you use to signup mate (ie don’t use India) but generally speaking the answer to your question is no you don’t need VPN to watch

      • Any reason it does not work with India? Its quite cheap.

    • Literally the comment above you

    • If you've been paying full AUD price then you've been doing it wrong.

  • Looks like I'm moving from Argentina to Honduras.

    • +3

The mass exodus from Argentina won't be alarming for the NBA at all I am sure.

  • Bummer, i receive this error with two different cards (when attempting to pay):
*** PLEASE NOTE *** There was an error processing payment using the payment option you supplied. If paying by PayPal, please try again at a later time. If paying by credit card, please check that the billing address you entered matches the address on your credit card account or use a different credit card and try again. If you need further help with your purchase, please contact customer support.

  • Am tempted to get this. Thanks for posting OP!

If only the NBA realised, providing a stable, AUD$100 / season subscription could incredibly successful in Australia. There are many, many casual NBA fans not willing to pay $300 a year, but would be willing to pay $50 for the finals, or $100 for the season.

    • +1

Biggest subscriber base outside of the US. They don't need to change anything.

    • That's why we use a VPN rest of the suckers pay full price

    • +1

My understanding is the high prices in certain countries is due to regional/national broadcasting deals having floor prices for League pass built in to the deal. To discourage cable cutting and direct relationship between fans and league.

The NBA would know and be fully aware where it's traffic is coming from, they are happy to sell it at $100 to someone going through the effort of a VPN and maintain their contractual obligations to their OS broadcast partners. So the real reason we are paying overs is because Foxtel/ESPNau negotiated it as part of their contract.

My suggestion is that we make hay whilst this sun shines because the next broadcast deals will likely include demands for more restrictions of these geo-workarounds.

  • Does anyone know if you can share a league pass with other people and stream it at the same time? If so how many others? Thanks

    • +1

      one stream at a time

      • Actually, I've found it depends on WHAT you are streaming on. I've successfully mutli-streamed on an iPhone and Android TV at the same time (done it multiple times during last season) and iPad and Telstra TV

        • +2

confirm they fail to count Android TV or chromecasted feeds. I do this all the time with my friend, he's on his laptop and I would just cast the game onto my tv using the Android app.

          • @Penpinch: sweet hack, have had NBALP for 7 years and never knew this lol

  • it won't give me the option for paypal?

  • what VPN is everyone using? I used the recommended one in the post and it didn't work.

    • +2

      The VPN works.

Clear your browsing data and close Google Chrome.
Reopen Google Chrome, click on the VPN extension button, choose Honduras and press the play button.
Once its connected search for NBA League Pass

      • +1

thanks it worked. Did all of that and on top of that I signed out of my chrome login as well.

  • Is there a reason why we're not doing through the India server? It only costs USD 19.99 if done through that

    • +3

You need a VPN to connect to india to initiate each game, which is a PITA. This only needs VPN to sign up for the deal, then can open NBA league pass from any device straight to watch games. Worth the extra $50 IMHO.

Can also share with a mate to half it again, if you're that way inclined….

      • Thanks! It's actually USD20 vs AUD71 so less than AUD50 definitely, which is even better

  • +1

how much data would it use to stream a game?

    • +2

To stream NBA League Pass content at the lowest quality, you need a minimum Internet connection of 800Kbps. Streaming in HD requires a minimum 3Mbps connection. Since a typical 48-minute NBA game spans around two hours due to timeouts, half-time breaks and other stoppages, this works out at roughly 700MB of data usage per game on the lowest video quality. At HD quality, this increases to around 2.7GB per game.

This deal got me signed upto OzB back in 2013. Have never paid fullprice and went to ballstreams for 2 seasons :(

  • My payment went through via Paypal, but doesn't seem to be active in the account yet. No confirmation email from NBA too. Anyone have this issue?

    • Quite a few people actually. It comes up as a charge in PayPal but no confirmation email from NBA.

      • It only occurs if the NBA account has an active subscription from last season that hasnt ended yet (November).
So if you try to sub again via PayPal. They would still take the money but not go active on NBA. Was told it would go back into the bank after 1-3 business days.
        I'm still waiting too..

Not sure if the OP is using the same active account of new one.

  • does this include playoffs?

    • yes

  • +7

South Africa worked for me, possibly less suspicious than all the Honduras sign-ups? Cost was R739.99 which is $73.36 so only slightly more expensive.

    • Yeah I just bought the team pass from South Africa for USD$25. So, less than AUD$40!!!!! Bargain LOL!

      • Straight subscription or with discount code?

    • My MAN.. my VPN didn't have Honduras, so went through South Africa!

    • Went through SA too since my VPN didn't have Honduras. Wasn't too keen on using a potentially dodgy free browser VPN. Cheers!

    • Thanks for the heads up, it was pretty easy to find a VPN for South Africa as well (note: used a different one to OP).

    • Logged in just to say thanks. No Guatemala or Honduras on NordVPN

    • Hi, Since Honduras wasn't available on Urban VPN i used South Africa instead. I was able to pay using credit card however i got stucked on step 3. Nothing was charged on my CC and no confirmation email from nba either. What do i do next? Thanks!

  • This deal still works for me. It's ~$15 usd. Indian VPN required. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/403377

    • you probably won't be able to log in now, they seem to accept payments and then cancel the indian subscriptions, unless you sign in and watch with a VPN every game.

  • what's the go for us with previous subscriptions?

do we just untick the opt in for next season auto renewal, then sign up using this?

or do we have to somehow completely remove our subscription?

    • +1

If you signed up for last season and even though you cancelled. Your account is still "active" until 1st November 2019.
So you're unable to purchase any new sub. You either wait until then or create a new account.

See my response up the thread.

  • does anyone have a way to get pass step 3? after the credit card info, the next page will show processing and then its just a blank page……..help please

    • Mine did the same thing but it still worked, check your email as you should have something confirming your subscription. Both emails went to my spam folder too so check there if you can't find them.

      • Hmmmm got no confirmation and card has not been charged. Tried 3 times, hopefully won't be charged 3 times haha

        • That's weird, hopefully worked for you (once) but I was a bit concerned when step 3 was just a blank screen, I assumed payment mustn't have gone through but sure enough I had an email confirming the successful billing and with details of the new sub. Also confirmed on my statement that payment has gone through so not really sure why Step 3 bugs out but should still work.

  • Cant seem to get it to work :( no matter what country I select it seems to default to AU/AUD$ once I hit the packages page. Any suggestions guys?

    • The VPN works.

Clear your browsing data and close Google Chrome.
Reopen Google Chrome, click on the VPN extension button, choose Honduras and press the play button.
Once its connected search for NBA League Pass

      • Didnt work sorry but got it via NordVPN via SA :)

  • Can't remember what country I used some years back but is renewing at 44.99 USD (10% renew discount)

    • can you search your account history to see?

  • For some reason i had to log into paypal on a different tab before using it as a payment method as it was going around in circles.

Had South Africa VPN and worked great thanks :)

    • My South Africa VPN is picked up as Switzerland…

  • Has anyone who already had an account and paid via PayPal received their money back yet?

    • Not yet

  • I downloaded the extension but Honduras isn't one of the available locations? Same thing with the Android app. Can anyone help? Ive tried clearing cache and reinstalling.

    • +2

It didn’t work for me either. I downloaded NordVPN for the 7 day trial and used the South African one. Still got it cheap AUD$74.07

      • Thanks, got it!
