I was 2 months ago looking for a new fridge, and came along to the corner shop of Newtone Retravision in Footscray. It was offered for me with a 'discount' off the RRP, they acted all nice and said that all I needed to pay was a 10% deposit to get it delivered. It was originally from RRP: 1299 to 1100 (she stayed on this price telling me she could not go any lower, until I insisted I would buy at HN since they could do it for 980), then i got it down to 980 bucks delivered. But this was when things got complicated.
When the fridge got delivered, it did not come complete with all the accesories i.e the ice twist tray thing ma jig. So I rang samsung, all they could do was for the retailer to fax them through a 'free of charge' form. I rang the retailer, unlike most shops I thought I could speak to anyone who worked there to solve my problem. But no, for retravsion they only could let me speak to the person who sold me the fridge. So this meant that it was very difficult to speak to the person who sold it to me, since it was all part-time positions. So I got on the phone with that asian chinese lady, and said my delivered fridge did not come with a ice maker. In response she said 'okay okay, i will ask the samsung delivery man when he comes'. It soon became the end of the week, so I went down to the retailer to meet the chinese sales person. In person, she seemed all dissapointed. I explained to her that she needed to fax it through, she denied she knew anything about it and could do nothing about it. So i told her once again, that it was her responsibilty that the delivered fridge came with the advertised specifications (both in catalogues and on the website, and confirmed by samsung via email). In rage, she let it all out in chinese to her fellow worker. She shouted at her friend in chinese most possibily telling her I was making her life difficult (read by sign language); all the other shoppers in the shop (very few, under 10) left). She went on and on…I was just appalled, she then left shouting in front of me to another desk they had. Whilst I left frustrated, the other employees tried to calm me down. But all the damage had been done.
Finally, after writing a long email of frustration to retravision head office, I went down to the retailer the week after. She pretended to be all nice, she even said to her manager 'oh this is the customer'. So i assume the email did get through. She FINALLY agreed to faxing through the form. 2 weeks later, the part arrived. But it was in the incorrect quantity; LOL, samsung sent me 2 of the one part, and none of the other part. =S. I just thought this mildly amusing experience for me will in fact act as a review for those who intend to go and shop at Newtone Retravision at Footscray or any other alike shops. My advice: AVOID at all costs.
How rude( or i should say stupid) a sale person would be to talk to his/her colleagues in front of the customer in foreign language? They should learn their lesson mate , so stay away from them as i and every other ozbargain's member will.
