  • What's the benefit of having Himalayan salt as candle holder?

  • +2

Please be careful with products like this as pets can get extremely sick if they lick it.

    • Can humans lick it? Is there an additional special coating to make it stay together?

      • +2

yes, they can, but my girlfriend gets very angry when I do …

also, plug in ones need to be on all of the time, toherwise they'll soak up the atmospheric moisture and leak a salty-wet residue …

they also seem to be one of the major causes of housefires (besides children, pets and people who need to leave candles next to their curtains)

    • It's essentially just impure table salt. I thought animals would only lick it if they were deficient in salt?

  • Standard price?

  • $11.76 delivery kills it

    • A massive $13.24 postage for me in Sydney. More than the actual products.

    • $13.29 for WA…. nahhh

  • Consumable if i grind it?

    [Will It Blend?] (http://www.willitblend.com)

Cheaper then buying the same amount of Himlayan salt from Retails store( 1.5kgs each approx x4=6kgs)

  • Cooler if they were plant pot holders, I know a tonne of people who'd purchase straight away.

    • +2

pretty sure the salinity would kill any plants you put in there

      • +1

Very likely, but if the holder was big enough, could put a plastic pot inside so its like a barrier between the actual salt from the holder & soil :) Would just look cool, all I'm saying

  • I've had a browse, and these are still a good price even with the postage.. Anyone else found them cheaper somewhere else? Seems to be cheaper than eBay.

  • "Due to the hygroscopic properties of salt (absorb moisture from the air), Himalayan salt lamps and rock salt candle holders are best not used in damp rooms, outdoors, in humid conditions, near evaporative cooling, or be allowed to get wet. … This will prevent your salt lamp from “weeping” or “sweating”."

Watch out if you live in a humid atmosphere.

  • Anyone know how to make the bedroom less dryer, I feel bushfires dries out the air?

Not small enough to fit in my salt grinder
