Don't Buy Mobile Phones from Kogan

STAY AWAY FROM KOGAN if you're in the market for new mobile phone. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S9+ from them only to be told, by Samsung, that the phone is a US variant and they are unable to help me with my software update problem.

It says on the overview that it is a direct import.

You didn't read it properly when you purchased it. Contact kogan for warranty support.

Thanks for signing up to ozbargain just to tell us something that's been common knowledge for years.

'Make Google your friend before you buy' is the lesson for today.

Thanks for the heads up OP. While it is a known issue, you probably are helping some who like you may have not noticed.

  • unable to help me with my software update problem.

What did Kogan say when you contacted them?

    • Talk to Ozb and cry about it or take it to ACCC

Well, it got your attention. ;)

  • Did they clearly state the model of the phone, like SM-G965UZDAXAA?

Did you take a moment to think why Kogan phones are cheaper compared to JB hi-fi, Harvey Norman, Samsung Au before buying?

US Variant? Lucky you didn't get the inferior Exynos and got a snapdragon my friend.

    • Arguably lucky though. FWIW, the OP won't have local Samsung Pay and most likely he won't have VoLTE/VoWiFi in Australia. If it was an overseas Exynos model, it could have been "converted" to have those features.
