If u can wait, wait for the MK270R to go on sale for not much more. The difference between this and 270R:

    • smaller IR USB receiver
    • on/off switch on both keyboard and mouse
    • slightly better built keyboard
    • Do you like it for extended typing sessions e.g. uni assignments? :)

      • We used MK220 at my old workplace. I like it.
Compact KB and mouse is not small size. Both clicky.

But yeah KB is smaller than standard size…

    • Not sure about the mouse but the keyboard is pretty good. Have been using it for a few years now.

    • is the MK270R using the 'unifying receiver' ?

    • Looked at both and yeah the MK270R looks much better than the MK220 unless size is a big criteria for you.

The MK220 is definitely not suitable if you plan to do any gaming with it feels too small.

Hopefully the MK270R goes on sale soon as a backup cheap wireless keyboard would be nice to have.

*edit (lowest recorded price on ozbargain around $19, but last 5 showed $24)

  • Thanks. Had an issue with my Xiaomi Mibox remote the other day and had no way of controlling it to fix the issue!

  • A colleague who left the company hand over his MK220 to me. Love the Keyboard - quiet, decent feedback on the fingers. I don't use the mouse at all because it is pretty heavy (2AA batteries required). It's been five months - have yet to replace the two AAA batteries in the keyboard.

  • can this keyboard be connected to a smart tv?

    • Yes. I use it on my 2019 Sony. Would not see any issues on an older TV.

I'm going to be the dissenter here. I came from MK260 keyboards which were not terribly sturdy but much tougher than these. Bought a couple of these for cheap on a previous sale, and for the rpice I can't complain too much. But fragile toys compared to the old. And I found it hard to feel satisfied with the smaller size (but if that's something you're after the keyboard is small). Even for $10-$15 I'd rather save up for something sturdier. Although unfortunately a lot of keyboards are going chiclet which I hate even more than this.

Do not recommend these. Mouse is okay, but the keyboard is absolutely woeful (super uncomfortable to use, I've also had issues with connectivity dropouts from two different ones).

For $15 you get what you paid for, but if you need to use this regularly, strongly advise paying more for something better.

Bought to control the TV a couple of years ago, and quite a compact keyboard. I couldn't use it as a main keyboard. But a good unit to stick in the cupboard for occasional use.

Heads up, this keyboard does not screen shot or print screen like most others, you have to fart around with copy and paste.

    • Although this keyboard doesn't have a print-screen key, Microsoft says "you may use Fn + Windows logo key + Space Bar to take a screenshot". This is for Win10, I don't know about earlier versions of Windows.

Fn + Home = PrintScreen, it's printed on the button.

I think I bought this a couple years back for about $25. The keyboard needs a bit of getting used to due to the key placements but I think overall very solid buy for the price. They've been reliable and battery lasts a long time on these

  • Can I use this with my Sony android smart tv?

    • If it supports regular USB keyboards, yes.

  • Thanks OP. Got it for my Mibox.

  • I bought this year ago and ended up giving it away due to the ridiculously small arrows and battery door on the left which kept sliding off.

Anybody know if this works with a Mac?

    • Works fine with Mac

  • Can someone who has used the keyboard comment on key stroke sound? Mouse click doesnt matter so much.

My partner and I share a study desk at home and her current keyboard is woefully loud. Her typing is like hitting my eardrums with an ice axe.

Im after a cheap alternative which wont have the sharp and loud keystroke sound (think of plastic tap tap tap tap!..all I can bloody concentrate on). Her current keyboard was cheap as chips, so I dont think she cares for quality and will happily change if I am willing to buy it for her.

No mechanical click noise. These days, mechanical keyboards are considered a premium product….how trends change! I remember the days when all the cream keyboards were mechanical and soft type keyboards were the premium. Fast forward 25 years and it’s the reverse.

      • Thank you! I just read on the difference between mechanical and membrane (?). Im guessing this is membrane and her current one is mechanical.

Once I get home ill check if hers is mechanical. If it is mechanical then I should be able to tell by removing keys, right?

        • +1

Yes this is a membrane keyboard, most cheaper keyboards usually are.

Her current keyboard may even be a membrane keyboard too, some are just as loud as mechanical keyboards. You can check by searching the model number or by trying to pull a key cap off, bear it mind it shouldn't take much force to take off.

  • First branch I tried in Perth CBD said they didn't have a deal like this- take a note of the SKU: 942459. Came right at branch nearest the underground. Mouse is very heavy compared to another Logitech mouse I have and keyboard is smaller but heavier than a cheapie from Big W. At $15 not a bad deal. Box marked at $39.

  • thank you! gonna pickup 1 this avo

  • Purchased to connect to my samasung tv and it was ok navigating with the mouse. Though it kept coming up with the Samsung hub pop up to connect but you need to keep cancelling it.
Using it for my work laptop and it’s ok.
It’s a bonus that it has the function buttons too since I use them frequently e.g mute , calculator etc.
    Not bad for $14.95
