I Found Boost's Sign up Procedure Better than Dodo for My Requirements

So, as a ~$9 / mon contract is about to end,
I thought I'd try DoDo's Subj low-end offer,
for a stay-at-home fone, that'll "Never MMS"

I visited their website & expressed interest
(~"We'll call you" was Step 2, so we waited)

Some days later, a guy w/ Phillipino accent
rang to ask "How many SIMs do you want?"

(I guess that's one way to boost your sales! ;~)

Altho I intended to "bring" but 1 no. w/ me,
I was willing to take an add'l 2 more SIMs w/
that one, eg, for the kids or g'kids, later.

Nope!

Yes, you can have an extra SIM, but "IF YOU
DON'T ACTIVATE IT 7 DAY AFTER, WE -WILL-

(So, no more saving a SIM for later, unless
your Later = 7 days!)

The old: "I'll have to ask my boss" routine
was used, after I mentioned told him I might
take 2 "extras" (Not knowing they'd activate
BEFORE I wanted it done).

(I guess he'd then go off & take a call…)

Back quite a few minutes later… I said he
got approval for the 3 SIMs (of course, NOT
mentioning that they'd Activate any "slow"
SIMs)

Then, a lengthy ID process was performed -
ALL ON THE PHONE. I've never had one like
it… ending with a "speed-read" of the
Legal Text, that you'll be asked to ac-
cept, long before you have a chance to
grasp any of the details you may be inter-
ested in.

In fact, I twice asked a Q on 2 details,
only to be told: "Don't worry, you can
find the text on our web site" (ie, AFTER
you agree to it!)

When I finally learn that my Extra SIMs
would be Activated (BEFORE I wanted 'em
to be) BY DODO… I was quick to Say NO
to each of them.

…Only to be reminded of the "favor" he'd
done for me, ie, getting my request boss-
approved (Yeah, right… :~)

Dunno if this is DoDo's usual ritual…
but… I was Not Impressed.


IMO, the BEST Sign-Up procedure is BOOSTS
Activate your [$2.00!] SIM upon receipt,
recharge it when you want to use your fone
(as it has No Value in the pack).

If that's so, you should Never need to hunt
for a ReCharge-pack of just the right Value.

(You may be stuck with BOOST's finite set of
recharge values, but - to select any - you're
at your Internet computer (Not out hunting
for a ReCharge-pack…)

And - IF Audio-Quality is up to the mark -
I see the $150 12-mon BOOST pre-paid offer
"2nd to none" - mostly due to its -Int'l-
Call + SMS inclusions (ie, IF you need one
or more of their 25 "chosen" countries…)

                I can remember signing up for a cheap Dodo data-sim offer back when mobile data allowances low. A 90 day useful backup, I recall. I can also recall customer service and signup process being a bit ramshackle. OP may have helped a few people avoid that, given that little seems to have changed there.
                A pity if he has lost a number in process of seeking to port one to Boost.

                You appear to be taking a break from OzBargain, The Notorious JJB. Don't go too silly in any direction.

                If malicious negging (negging for sake of negging) persists on your comments, and the prompt for your departure, a Mod will look into that for you, I would reckon, if you ask.

                    (A famous sample, used in the song in this thread, at 2:04, in this track) Part songwriting credit given, and clearance ultimately granted, for that one.

                    Of a couple of tracks found, I had forgotten about the actual level of swearing in those.

                @HighAndDry: I imagine IVI sitting in an armchair in front of their heater, blanket over their lap, using their iPad (which one of the grandkids gave them a year back) to vent their minor issues with the world to the abyss of the internet.

                The nice young lady at the post office has stopped entertaining their rants, their GP rushes him out the door each appointment and the local newspaper no longer has a reader's letters column for them to write to. So this is their only outlet.

    Never ever heard of a post paid account letting you activate it whenever you wanted too.

    I can only guess op assumed things and didnt do enough research

    Perhaps read the CIS next time. It says post paid on the first line. The reason why they ask so.many details is they did a credit check…..
