    I have the R1280DB connected through a dedicated sound card, analogue from a good source sounds much better than optical or bluetooth.

      sounds like fun, but if you're are chasing the edge, dedicated speakers can be better again

      I once had a Roland and card back in the 90s and I couldn't believe how good MP3s sounded compared to a sound blaster card.

  Do these connect to a pre amp? Such as the JDS Labs Atom Amp which doubles as a Pre amp?

    It takes a standard line in, so I guess you could connect it to it's LineOut at the back but I don't know why you would cause the speakers have their own volume control and bass and treble
