Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Back Screen Cracked

G'day, so I'm currently leasing a Galaxy Note 9 from optus and I've completely cracked the back glass. The lovely people at Optus are wanting to charge me $500 to replace that. I'm fairly versed in phone repairs, however the IMEI and serial number is inbuilt into the cracked glass.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Maybe some dodgy Chinese manufacturer that prints the codes onto the back?

  • Samsung is $340 for a note 9, still expensive. But cheaper than optus
    Edit:
I didn't see the back glass, that price is front glass sorry

  • It's $220 for the back glass (and camera lens) direct from Samsung

Or just get a nice case and forget about it

OP has to return the phone back to Optus at the end of the contract due to leasing the phone.

Unfortunately that's Optus fee for damaging the phone. The post does mention the following:

If it’s an easy fix like a cracked screen, you can pay up to $229. Or if the phone can’t be repaired, you can pay up to $499.

Worse case, get Samsung to replace the back screen, ~$220 from Samsung (make sure to keep documentation).

You can choose to pay to have the phone fixed. You would need to have it repaired by Optus or the phone manufacturer and fees will vary depending on how damaged the phone is. A damage fee of up to $499 would not be charged if the repair is covered by a manufacturer’s warranty or the Australian Consumer Law. If you do get the phone fixed by a repairer other than Optus or the manufacturer you may be charged a damage fee when you return it to us.

  • Cheers for the suggestions guys. Looks like I'll just bite the bullet and get Samsung to do it.

  • Have Optus provided you with a buying out option? Might be a bit cheaper than $500.
