Thanks. Do you have a source for this?
It is a 2 year old phone so I suppose voiding the warranty is not something you have to be concerned about.
Therefore DIY would be the cheapest way - Plenty of video guides on youtube and the lcd assembly you can purchase from Aliexpress/eBay.
You're still looking at ~$200 for something from Aliexpress without burn-in (the cheaper ones have noticeable burn-in and they state that), so $275 fitted locally from Samsung isn't a bad deal.
For a samsung, it's going to be expensive. There really isn't a cheap option. This is mostly because Samsung makes the screen themselves, and dominates the OLED market with over 95% market share I believe. Which means they will certainly raise the price quite a fair bit in order to entice you to upgrade your phone instead. Same reason why Apple replacement screens (outside of Apple Care) is also very expensive.
Phone repair kiosks charge ~$400. Much cheaper to do through Samsung but you will be without phone for a few days.
Next time, buy your phone with an Amex.
@ryanek what's the Amex benefit? Is it some form of insurance?
Yeah that's right.
We’ll reimburse you for the cost of the screen repair up to $500 for two events a year, when you purchase your phone outright or pay your monthly phone bill with an eligible American Express Card.
$275 from Samsung…
