Can Anyone Help Unlock My Wechat Account Please?

My mum is travelling in China and my WeChat account now complains:

Unusual activity was detected on your account. You need another WeChat user to "Help Friend Log In" to verify your identity and unblock your account. Fill out the user's information below to invite them to help. The user doesn't have to be your WeChat friend, but must meet the following requirements::

Signed up for WeChat over 6 months ago and the account can be used normally
≥Hasn't exceeded the "Help Friend Log In" limit (1x/month, 2x/6 months, 3x/year)

I'm a long-time Ozbargainer. Could someone assist, please?

    I would help you but my account is locked with the same error.

    I downloaded we chat after 1 year of not using it and after 2 days, it blocked me. I tried to unblock my account using my mums wechat account and it states that her account can't unblock my account cause she's not a regular user.

    Wechat is the worst and its even worst when your chinese friends refuses to download any other messaging app. Oh well, I don't see them anymore, don't care now lol.

        I too hate it and the refusal by most Chinese to switch.

        I think this mentality comes from the QQ-era. When there was no other option, especially to mainlanders. Tencent have done a cracking job capturing and monopolizing such a huge market. It's almost as if they've had government support.

        Just don’t tell my wife who is of Cantonese background that I said that.
