Sony @ IFA 2019 Releases New “H.ear on 3” Headphones + DAP’s

For those who were expecting the successor to the Sony WH-1000XM3 @ IFA 2019, instead it seems Sony has released the H.ear On 3 / WH-H910N, the successor to the H.ear on 2 / WH-H900N.

So some kind of ‘dual’ noise-cancelling technology, and they use a new 25mm dome-type driver instead of the usual 40-50mm driver (Sony claims the new 25mm matches the previous driver design in performance), they also get USB-C & quick-charging.
Supported BT Codecs are “LDAC, AAC, SBC” according to Sony UK specs. So missing Apt-X when compared to XM3.

And Sony also released two new Walkman’s.
The NW-A100 (single 3.5mm) and the NW-ZX500 (dual 3.5mm + 4.4mm balanced).
Both Digital Audio Players are now running Android.
So it seems like Sony has merged their (dwindling) Xperia development with the Walkman.

I am aware of other DAP’s running Android having poor battery-life compared to their proprietary UI running counterparts, so IMO this is kind of odd for Sony to make a DAP which is kind of confused as to what it actually is.
One other weird gimmicky feature is that the DAP’s have a ‘cassette’ simulation mode, where while playing music the screen is a moving cassette image, simulating the original Walkman.

Comments

  • Wouldn't this be the successor to the WH-H900N rather than the WH-1000XM3? Not the same product line.

    • Yes please read the first two lines again.

Edit: I edited it to make it more clear.
