Problem with USB Wi-Fi Adapter Need Help

Hi

I bought this cheap WiFi adapter (probably a bad choice) from eBay but it works well in windows 10 but only problem that is happening is the speed keeps dropping I have searched the internet and other listings but nada nothing about it . I have contacted the seller of the product but the seller has not replied to my message.

Should I try and get refund or is someone able to help me with it

  • If you go to WiFi adapter properties there should be a bunch of settings you can adjust from a drop down selection.
You will have to do some google searching to see what each one actually does, but a few are straight-forward like 2.4ghz and/or 5ghz only etc.
Another one setting to adjust would be in properties make sure “allow device to conserve power” is off.
I am just an average computer user so that’s all I can share.

  • yep there is nothing only setting i have is this

    • Yes each of those settings should have different options. Like VHT 2.4G > I think there should be VHT 5G / HT 2.4G / HT 5G etc.
Or maybe the device is really cheap and only has little options.

      • yep there is no 5g setting kinda suck like i can see my wifi 5ghz but there is no setting to change it around for this wifi adapter

  • Have you tried it on another device?
Are you running Windows or MacOS?

    • same thing i tried it on my dad laptop and it is showing the same problem and im running on windows 10 and modem is about 5 meters away from my system

      • Could it be your internet slowing down due to congestion outside of your network? What's your average internet speed?

Would you be willing to try reinstalling the drivers for the USB Wifi Adapter? (Uninstall, restart, install, restart)

        • i get around 35-47 and when i speed test my wifi on my other devices it its working fine and uninstalling it still the same issues so my last option is to get a refund now

          • @Digitalco: Ah

Yeah, I would get in contact with the seller and arrange a return & refund, seems the item is faulty.

            • @CC123: Yep probably have to now

"note to self just buy a proper WiFi adapter that has branding"

  • When I needed one recently, I bought this one:-
