What Robot Vacuums Do People Use?

I just purchased the DeeBot 610 from Aldi for $299.

I like everything about it but want one that can give a virtual map of the house so certain rooms can be cleaned/skipped instead of the entire house.

Just seeing what people use that have this feature and what price point they start at.

Roborock s50, it has the virtual map thing you are after. Got it for about $400 from memory.

    My wife.

Most expensive appliance i've ever owned

    • +9

Could be worse, mine doesn't even do a good job, I think it's getting a little old and time for a newer model

      Came here to see this

Should have done your research before committing.

      Wife 2.0 here

    • The mantainance on those…. Aiyayai

    • Old but gold.

I think I'll buy a Roomba instead, I could probably have sex with it more than this "wife" appliance you speak of.

Another vote for the Roborock S50.

  • Another (happy) Roborock S50 owner here. Works a treat. Had it for a year & it's saved me 4094 mins via 111 cleanups so far.

    • So this has completely replaced your old vacuum cleaner?

      • +1

I still have a stick Dyson — had it prior to the S50. It's still useful for the odd quick spot clean e.g., after dinner if the kiddie has made a mess or for tight nooks e.g., around the toilet as the S50 is too wide to get in there :)

        • Oh cool, but you never do a whole house clean? I’ve been wanting a robot vac for ages because I’m just too lazy haha obviously spot cleans will be needed but if I can replace my half an hour every Saturday that would be excellent. Thanks for your reply!

@jjjaar: Not OP, but I have the Xiaomi gen 1 robovac. It runs every day and is such a time saver. When I know that I'm going to be mopping the floors, I can still get the vacuuming done from bed :)

I also have horrible 70s style shag carpeting, and it's great to come home to that looking all fresh from the vacuum.

I am looking for a stick vacuum for a stepped area in my house, but aside from that, the robovac does all the other vacuuming. Strongly recommend.

              • @jjjaar: Be careful with this advice, I have a powerful vacuum with a turbo head on it (k-mart bargain) and use it on the house every 4 months or so, it picks up a LOT of dirt when I use it that the s50 isn't able to pick up. My carpet is very easy to clean (not thick or long fibres). The s50 keeps the top surface looking nice though and cleans probably 90% of the dirt/dust.

            • @wittyusername: Would highly recommend the Xiaomi Dreame V9 for a stick vacuum, I would say its on par with a Dyson (if not better) & for about 1/3 of the price.

Roborock s50. You won’t regret it just like plenty of other buyers. Search for roborock in ozbargain and read comments on its bargain posts.

  • I have two Roborock s50s and they are fantastic.

  • Roborock S50 and an ILIFE V7s. The latter is far less effective/dumb but generally does the areas that are less dirty.

I'm planning to buy the Neato Robotics D7 (currently USD 600 on Amazon):

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078MPFN55?pf_rd_p=2d1ab40…

Judging by this video on YouTube, which compares different robot vacuums, it seems to be overall the best one:

I have owned a Neato Botvac Connected for 18 months and it is without a doubt the best robotic vacuum on the market.

It cleans in a logical plan. It returns to base has a recharge and resumes where it left off. It doesn't get stuck in stupid places

It picks up ALL dog hair

It has a HEPA filter that works (I'm allergic to dust so i know when this doesn't work in a house)

Consumables are cheap as chips on eBay

Has easily configurable brushes for your floor type

    Worth every penny.

Can pick up reconditioned/ex hire for around $600

It sends me a map of where it cleaned each time.

If we are out and invited someone back to our house, i can turn it on remotely and the house looks spectacular every time we walk through the front door.

It can be scheduled and can be controlled manually.

It has an eco mode and turbo mode

All this sounds pretty similar to the Xiaomi robot vacuum…

  • Pureclean from Amazon prime sale. Half price.

It's not smart as my robomaid from years ago but it does clean well and can clean for a long time.

I would prefer for my robomaid to get back online although I have to make a new battery for it and find the zone controller.

  • Xiaomi Roborock S50 here too and insanely happy with it.

  • How do they go over uneven and varying surfaces. For example, we have rugs on both carpet and hard flooring.

    • +1

Our Roborock has had no issues moving up and down rugs or play mats.

Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner (Gen 1) - love it!

  • Irobot Roombas here (2), in a small house too. ( I had one for the company office before I retired.) Love them, cheap consumerables on Ebay.
Got both of them for a great price from cash converters. Although I also have an inbuilt vacuum system these Roombas get still more dust etc from the floors even after using the big inbuilt one !!

  • Xiaomi roborock. If you've been around ozb you know this. I think I speak for everyone when I say "I use a roborock".

  • xiaomi roborock 2nd generation i think i paid around $450 for it and it has been fantastic

    • Is the mopping feature useful?

      • eh its ok would rely on it to mop everything but to do a basic job its alright

  • Xiaomi 1st gen. Best thing I've ever bought.
Gets everywhere and picks up dust even when the house looks clean

  • well I don't have an exciting answer, I do it myself, enjoy while you still can before robot taking over mandatorily

  • +1

Close the door on the rooms you don't want it to vacuum?

    • I was gonna comment this just now, seeing nobody else above suggested that.
Then reach the last comment at this time which was yours now I'm sad.

  • Cyberdyne Systems Model 101

  • The roborock vac's are the best value robot vacuum's you can buy. They have similar features/performance to the high end/expensive models.

  • Another vote for the Roborock S50. Had it for about 2 months and love it. Get it to clean the apartment a couple of times per week.

It's great being able to set it to clean and watch the progress or make changes even if I'm not in the house via the app. Make sure things are picked up off the floor before I leave for work and then set it to clean.

  • Just curious, how much battery/working time do they generally give? Mine (Ecovacs 610) states 110 mins but in reality is only about 75 mins.

  • Can somebody link me to a Roborock S50 or the product page I cannot seem to find it.

Is this the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Cleaner Gen 2 or something else?

I remember Xiaomi released that robot vac with the mop but that looked like a fail and minor upgrade over gen 1.. is this the same robot vac as the roborock s50 or something else?

    Please send help.

  • Anyone got the 2 in 1 New Xiaomi Robo Vac?

  • Anyone know the 'best' deal for an s50 at the moment? I feel they're a lot more expensive than 6-12 months ago :(
