    Really depend on what type of picture quality you are after. There are some entry level 4K shifting projectors in BenQ and Optoma around the $1800-$2500 mark, these will offer extra detail being 4K, however they won't give the same sort of contrast, image processing, and colour reproduction as a high-end FULLHD projector at a similar price point.
    This Epson in particular has better colour, contrast, zoom, lens shift, and input lag than these 4K machines. If playing lots of 4K media then I usually recommend to check out models like BenQ's W2700, but if mainly watching TV and HD streaming then you can actually get a better picture out of a high-end FULLHD projector.

  Got an Optoma UHD300x in my Cinema, and paired with a 135" ALR screen, i get absolutely great picture with superb blacks, contrast and detail and it's 4k (well pixel shifted 4k, but very good). I know Epsons are great, but a full HD is old hat these days IMO.
