Are these good for watching movies?
Everything I've read, theres no true 1080p or 4k quality VR for watching videos.
Yes I understand that there are even 8k resolution VR players - but because it is a wide viewing angle, everything i've heard is that it doesn't even look as good as 720p youtube quality.
I am torn, I would be willing to spend $1,500 on something that is stand alone and can provide a great quality movie experience :(
Anyone have the oculus quest and can comment on video quality watching movies?
It's the same price on the Oculus store. I believe that it is usually $650 so this isn't a sale as far as I can tell.
I am seriously looking at getting one of these as well and haven’t seen them cheaper than $650. I have used a HTC Vive extensively and I would not want to watch a movie on a VR headset mainly because of the screen door effect where you can literally see the pixels of the screen. Other people reckon they find it really immersive tho so your mileage may vary.
it's currently out of stock on Amazon AU and it says it will ship from "Amazon US" so it might take a bit longer to ship and warranty might be more difficult after the first 30 days. That said it can be easier to return to Amazon than Oculus if something is faulty initially.
$650 is the normal RRP price and you can buy it from the Oculus store directly at that price.
Seriously consider an Oculus S if you have the PC power to run their games.
