Awning for Dual Cab without Canopy

I'm looking for an awning for our dual cab. Any recommendations on what would be better - a 2.5mx2.5m or a 2mx3m? Or more specifically, is a 2.5m awning too long to attach to a dual cab without a canopy?

  • Quick google says 2m is the max you'd want to go

I was also trying to see if a ladder rack at the back could help you out. Can't find out if it would or wouldn't

Thanks - saw that as well but thought I'd post to see if any trustworthy OzBargainers had experience.

  • Both options "suits all vehicles".

  • I have a 2m along the vehicle and 2.5m off the vehicle, also no canopy. That is the biggest I would go personally. Likewise I use it alot and have never felt the absence of 0.5 of width along the vehicle. If you are concerned about shade or weather proofness, you can buy the awning side wall as I have done. It is just that bit extra in poor weather. Also dont spend more than a kings awning. They are great quality for price and the high end brands are not justified.

Also a point to note. Do not install your awning so it is fixed on both the body and tray. i.e. ladder rack or canopy. Install on one or the other. Most utes have separate bodies and trays and in rough environments they flex and any fixed things will flex with it (roof racks, awnings etc.)

    • Thanks. So a 2x2.5 over a 2x3?

      • Well I have a 2x2.5 … I dont think a 2x3 will be an issue as they are both 2m along the vehicle.

  • My 2x3 is fine on my dual cab.
