Hi
My paypal account got limited about a year ago and they asked for my drivers license which i didnt feel comfortable to provide so i asked them to close my account. I also had my ING bank connected to my paypal account.
I also transferred out all money from my ING account before i close the paypal account as well.
about 2months ago i got a call from paypal that I owe them around $100 from a recent transaction on ebay which was around $150! and i explained to them I closed my account a year ago and its impossible for me to make any transactions (my account was limited and closed afterward with $0 balance due)
the lady who talked to me said she will go and check and get back to me which she never did.
I checked my ING bank that was connected to paypal it had negative balance of -$50 and now my bank was after me to give them $50. I disputed the transaction from bank and they rejected my dispute and said you have to talk to paypal directly and they gave me paypal phone number.
I called paypal again last month they said i bought two items from ebay (Which I DIDNT) and i have to pay paypal around $100 now they dont give me much information and they say they have sent my case to a debt collection agency which is right i have got 2 letters so far.
my main problems are as follow:
- how is it possible total of $150 was debited from my closed paypal account.
- how did I get negative $50 on my ING bank, it doesnt even have a debit card and that account is inactive for more than a year time.
Update apparently ING allows up to $200 direct debit to be processed without balance. - if there was a purchase of $150 I can see there is $50 charge from my ING Bank direct debit but how the hell paypal has allowed the rest $100 to happen. i mean i never connected any debit card or credit card to my account all there was just the ING direct debit.
should i fight them? if yes how? or should i just pay them to get rid of them?
this case is very complicated for me.
OK, dont worry about how it happened. Lodge a complaint with these guys ASAP https://www.afca.org.au/
