I have given up on inkjets. Everyone should as well.
I still have an inkjet I got 2 years ago, granted I don't use it much but for $20 something it was worth it
That's the worst situation - infrequent use. Inkjets dry and you waste most of it cleaning it.

I pay about $15 for a bottle of Epson ink that lasts around 2 years of use (around 20 pages or more per day)…
Where do you buy these generic ink bottles?
They're not generic, they are Epson Ecotank. I get them from Officeworks who price match.

@jv: Oh, they're the new larger bottles instead of the tiny cartridges.
Which model do you have? I'd like to check it out in store.
Also, do you mean $15 for colour or black?
Thanks.
@BooYa: ET-2750 got a really good price from one of the ebay sales last year.
@jv: Thanks a lot, I need a decent printer for the family to share, so we need to get one with cheap ink.

Well worth the investment…
If I was buying again now, I'd get one of the newer, more expensive options.
The photos on mine are very good, but the new ones are better…
I also have a cheap B/W laser with generic cartridges but hardly ever use now because the Epson is so cheap.
Also, do you mean $15 for colour or black?
All colours $16.99 at OW, but they will price match if you find cheaper.
They last about 2 years of average use.
@jv: Sold! Thanks mate :)
@BooYa: Here's a list of all the models…

Sometimes you find them in the ebay stores of the major retailers when there are ebay sales on.
@jv: Wondering if the ink dries up from infrequent use?
Sometimes I go months without printing so I went with a mono laser bit that broke after 5 yrs
Wondering if the ink dries up from infrequent use?
Not sure, I don't go more than a few days without printing.
I have half a bottle of yellow from almost a year ago and that still is fine.
If you don't print frequently, these probably won't be cost effective anyway due to the high up-front cost.
I think it's Pixma, not Prixma (which sounds a bit rude).
Other than that, I think it's a good deal, even if just for the scanner.
But I agree, inkjets are past their prime, and you can still buy cheap generic inks.
I think top inkjets also print better photos than laser, but I could be wrong.
It’s how grandpa sends dicpics
Oh crap, really? That's no good.
Yes, really.
I eventually managed to get my ancient but trusty CanoScan LiDE 70 running under Windows 10 (there was an issue with the drivers - had to install Windows 7 drivers in compatibility mode) and the MG2560 is now sitting here doing nothing.
Will change to goodguys, nice find
Edit it won't let me
If you want , you can create a new deal (if no one else has) linking to the good guys.
Then you can edit the text of this deal (not the website address) and add a link to your good guys post on ozbargain.
I thought inkjet printers were basically dead ten years ago when I bought a cheap laser printer but all the ads I see and all the printer deals posted here are inkjet. People must be doing a lot of colour printing - go figure - got me beat.
Same here, when I got my first laser, I thought the same and couldn't imagine why I'd ever use an inkjet again.
I think people use laser for most printing and inkjet for photos/pictures.
You can get cheap colour laser printers, but I think inkjets do a better job with photos and pictures than laser (the exprensive ones do a surprisingly good job though).
Also, the colour toner cartridges are still very expensive compared to black toner cartridges which have dropped in price a lot since those days.
Just two reasons why people might keep a laser and an inkjet printer.
One more thing, the colour inkjet cartridges have dropped in price considerably since those days, while colour laser toner is still fairly expensive by comparison, so this could be another reason.
Yay landfill
