Action Camera Purchase

I am off to Hawaii shortly and wanted to grab a go pro or similar. Im not fussed on brand name. Just want a good value reasonably priced camera (yi?)

I had a Kaiser bass but the battery life is poor so i need to replace it

Any recommendations on what to get and where to get it? Eg jbhifi, duty free, bestbuy usa…

Price range?

If its for Action, I'd spend the money on a GoPro
Otherwise for just holiday videos, maybe a DJI Osmo pocket?

The SJCam clones are not bad. They're about $35. Batteries last about 60-90 minutes per charge. Extra batteries are about $5 each (IIRC). I have one that I've been using for a helmet cam for the last 18 months without issue.

I got the gopro 7 black. If I had to get one now I'd probably go for the DJI Osmo. I'd suggest watching youtube vids of comparisons.

Get it during a good guys sale and you get GST back on the full price.

Depends what you will be using it for and if you'll use it a lot when you return.

I personally wouldn't drop $500 on a GoPro 7 + Underwater gear just for one holiday.

I think a Yi would be fine for your needs. Spend the $400 you save on skydiving or something. Or even just accommodation given the aussie dollar.

Get a used go pro from Facebook market/gumtree/eBay. I personally their image stabilisation software is better than any of the competitors in the market at the moment
