Shoe for daily running usage

Hi all,

I'm planning to buy shoe for my daily running/exercise. Can anyone suggest good brand(like new balance, nike, Adidas etc.) and reliable shoes for me. My budget is A$160.

Thanks in advance.

If you're running daily, $80 is not enough for a pair of good running shoes. You're probably looking at more like $150 for a decent pair (unless on sale for half off or something).

If you're running daily, you'll need to replace them every 3 months or so anyway.

  • Dunlop kt26

    • hehe, are they still around? They used to be the go-to shoe back in the 80's….ahhh, the memories…. loads up 80's youtube channel….

      • They sell them in Big W although nothing like the original.

      • Yeah. Most definitely. They have changed their styling since the 80s version

  • Good brand is not the best recommendation. Good fit is more important.

As above, you’ll only get ‘good’ running shoes for that price if you are an unusual size and get run out stock of something.

  • have a look at the outlet stores for various shops. they will have last years models at a price within your price range.
also would suggest going to a brick and mortar store and actually trying a few of them out to see how they feel. as mentioned above it isn't always about the brand but more about the fit and feel.

if you live in Sydney there are a bunch of outlet stores in birkenhead point (Asics, Adidas, Insport, Nike, New Balance) or DFO homebush that you could try.

  • Find out how much you pronate to find a suitable shoe.

I don't run daily, but try to run 5 days a week & 3000km this year. My budget is also at maximum $80 per pair like in your original post. So far I have been able to keep all my running shoes under the budget thanks to all the deals posted on OzBargain :)

Traditionally the top 4 brands are ASICS, Brooks, New Balance and Saucony. These days you might also want to add Nike, adidas and Hoka One One to the list as they are also popular. If you aren't familiar with the models and your gait, then it's probably best to go to the shop or DFO to do some fit out. After all it's not the brand or model but whether they fit you comfortably.

Otherwise for sub-$80 running shoes at the moment:

  • Aldi premium running shoes outlast the expensive brands and you can buy 5 pairs for your $160 and get change. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/322906
