Worth noting you need an active ABN to register a .au domain.

    • Yeah although .id.au doesn't require an ABN but for most .au domains you need one.

  • As usual, good idea to use a debit card to pay.
    Is renewal cost competitive?

    • Why is that?

      • So you can overdraw that bank account at renewal time or lose the domain ;)

    • It's currently $10.50 per year to renew with us. :-)

  • +1

Wonder if you can buy it then transfer it out straight away….

    • +1

You can if you really want to, but why would you? We offer 24/7 Australian-based support and customer service.

      • Simply to put it in the same hosting company as my other 24 domains mate - no other reason. I want things in one place.

Thanks op, was just about to buy a domain and this was perfect timing!

  • How much does it cost to renew?

    • That depends entirely on the domain.

      • I mean the renewal for this .au. I am guessing it is around $50

        • -1

Again, it depends entirely on the domain name.

        • +4

          $10.50/year after the 1st year

  • It’s saying $14/year - does it just reduce it to $1 you process it??

    • Promotion is applied at checkout.

  • Note that Zuver is the discount arm of VentraIP. I've dealt with them before, prices are great and the navigation through the web site is okay, but any tech support is strictly by email only. I'd only use them again to get a domain name at a discount and then transfer to another provider with better support and who offers more services (such as VentraIP themselves).

    • What sort of services would that include? Would you recommend transferring straight away or waiting till renewal? Also how much does a transfer normally cost? This is my first paid domain, I've got a lot of dumb questions sorry.

      • +1

VentraIP offer telephone and priority support, Zuver are email-only and will answer as they get around to it. Zuver's range of add-ons for your domain (e.g. database, shopping cart, image hosting, etc) is reasonable, but others have more comprehensive offerings. At what time you transfer a domain is not really important, you can always update the DNS in Zuver's system to point to the new one, I just like to keep things tidy by having all my domains in one place. The cost of transferring is usually the full price of at least one year for the registrar you normally use, this kind of offer is best for securing that domain you've had you're eye on but didn't want to splash out full price on.

There's no cost for transferring a com/net/org .au domain. It just assigns it to a different registrar and your registered time left remains the same.

      • +1

Check the terms but you're more than likely not able to transfer for a short period of time with this promotion.

It won't matter though as you can really point the domain anywhere you want and it doesn't make a difference where it's registered until the time to renew.

I wouldn't be too concerned with service/support for a domain name as you're most likely going to set it up and leave it (unless you know what you're doing and need to start adding your own DNS entries). I use a few of their services and they're quite responsive on email anyway.

Transfers are free and your remaining time just carries on with your new registrar.

        • That's good news. I've never hung around long enough to do that, I've always transferred to VentraIP almost immediately.

Zuver are fantastic. I recently transferred multiple domains over to them from Netregistry. Netregistry wanted to charge me $119 for a change of registrant. Zuver charges $12. They also offer a free DNS management console. As others have mentioned, email only support, but they are very responsive (typically within 30 minutes). And yes, they are the budget arm of VentraIP who in turn resell from Synergy Wholesale.

Thanks for the great feedback! :-)

They used to have promotion on hosting…. Like 90% off from regular price for 5 years.

Hopefuly they will run the promotion again soon.

    • Unfortunately, that is unlikely to ever happen again. :-(

      • @zuverhost What happened to your reseller hosting plans? Are you bringing them back?

        • Reseller services are now available through our sister company Synergy Wholesale. :-)

          • @zuverhost: Took a look at Synergy Wholesale but can't see any pricing. It looks like it caters for larger resellers/institutions.

What will happen to existing members with reseller hosting plans? Will they carry over and renew or should I start looking for a new provider?

            • @Devil: If you want the old style reseller plans, I would recommend you take a look at DreamIT Host. Unfortunately unlimited cPanel accounts are no longer possible with the recent cPanel pricing increase.

  • Although this is a good deal, I'm not really a fan of Zuver offering basically the same prices as their wholesale offering to normal customers. I guess it's a win for the consumer though.

    • Zuver aims itself towards a different segment of the market. We pay the same amount to Synergy Wholesale as everybody else does, so there is nothing stopping you from signing up as a reseller and accessing wholesale prices.

Didn't know .au domains were actually available at the moment

  • Rep you guys hosting email as well?

    • Our web hosting plans have email hosting included, but we don't have email-only hosting plans. VentraIP Australia does though.

  • Seems Zuver has reset the countdown on the offer. This "limited time offer" is going for another 24 hours.

  • Hi rep,

I had ordered one and it still shows 10.5 at check out.
