Bose Double Dip Discounts on eBay Ending

Hi All,

I was just speaking to a rep from VideoPro about the new Bose NC700 Noise Cancelling Headphones and if they will be added to their eBay store. They told me that Bose has dicated to all suppliers they are not allowed to put any products released from this year (2019) on to sell on eBay. So this means no waiting for Myer to have a sale on Bose + have 20% off on their eBay store to nab a great deal for this product or other new releases from Bose.

I thought it was interested and others may want to know.

    Would explain the lack of Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 from established sellers on eBay (Not including Kogan/Dick Smith, since they are Grey Imports).

      Bose doesn't want them on eBay because it erodes the perceived value of the product (due to constant eBay sales / coupons) so they are not allowing their re sellers to list them there. It's probably considered a light form of resale price maintenance. but IANAL.

      Apple does the same thing to their Authorised resellers, not sure what is their contract but they do have very strict requirements to ensure that they are not undercutting Apple too much (stick close to the RRP) or they might stop doing business with them.

    I get that stores like Bose and Apple want to protect their sales, especially since they have their own storefronts that they prefer you buy from, but I wouldn't want to support a company that doesn't allow the market to set the consumer buying price.
