Did Anyone Purchase All Black Ox Converse Shoes from Kogan and Noticed They Were Different to What Was Displayed?

I received mine a few weeks ago, I noticed that it was a little different to the pictures, and immediately they offered at $10 Kogan credit when I showed them photos and screenshot their own product photos for comparison.

I rejected the offer and said, I dont want a $10 credit, I will take no less than $15 refunded to my credit card and I will keep the shoes as they were not as pictured. There were a few differences, the Converse Label was made from rubber, not fabric as it normally is. The insole was all black instead of beige, which was picture and what it should be for genuine converse shoes too.
They re-assured that they were genuine Converse shoes. I'm guessing possibly for another market, who knows with Kogan..

Either way, they accepted immediately and refunded $15 to my credit card so I'd keep the shoes. Originally I purchased them for about $24 total, as there was a 50% off deal at the time. I basically got a pair of all back Converse shoes for A$12.50 posted.

So if you ever find differences in your items, always check, SCREENSHOT IMMEDIATELY, and follow up with the store.

NOTE: When I emailed them, I made sure I took a screenshot of the product first and funnily enough, after my email they removed the listing all together.

Had this same thing happen with ASICS shoes purchased through Kogan. I believe they were fakes. They wouldn’t give me a refund, only a credit. I won’t buy from them again. Dodgy products. I had these exact shoes from the ASICS store and whilst the kogan ones physically looked the same, the quality and material was inferior and they didn’t feel the same at all. So beware.

    • Exactly what I noticed. Their Nike and Adidas shoes seemed decent quality and we're the same as other shoes I have direct from their respective stores. But Converse I noticed a massive difference so just wanted to make sure people reached out for a refund

I'd be contacting Converse to see what they say. If Kogan is selling fakes, that's not right.

Don't know why I didn't think of that! Especially now that I have Kogan re-assureing their real, I'll contact Converse and post the response here after I send them the photos.

  • Okay so spoke to Converse & this was their response.. So havent really gotten anywhere on this.

    • Do you have the definite real thing to compare of the exact same Shoes? If not, I'd literally try to take it to a shoe store & see if a staff member is able to help you our & let you inspect your ASICS vs the definitely genuine version there selling .. If there are obvious differences, take photos then go to Kogan with information in hand & demand your money back and not a credit. A bit of Googling and you might get lucky and find some way of telling there fakes as well.

Off course above is a bit of effort. I'd probably just accept the credit, buy something with it on Kogan site & consider it a lesson learned.. Thats just me..

Yep, they're clearly different to the proper Converse version. I actually can't tell if Converse ever made a version like this, and if they did I dont know why because they already have an all black shoe similar.

All in all, I rejected the credit. I sent Kogan a screen shot of their listing which shows a slightly different shoe than what they sent me. I wouldnt have noticed the difference, but I remembered one member from Ozbargain mentioned that their Converse's were different from the image they displayed. Anyway, sent my photos and Kogans images to Kogan, they offered me $10 CREDIT which I rejected. I told them $15 REFUNDED to my credit card and I'll keep the shoes.

And they accepted, so basically got the shoes for about A$12.50 posted.
