[PC] DRM-free - Banished - $7.39 AUD - GOG

20

While this is not the all-time lowest price, it is within acceptable range and currently the best price available. Additionally, you get a DRM-free copy instead of being bound to a launcher which is an added bonus.

From the website:

Banished is a city building game where you control a group of exiled people who are restarting their lives in the wilderness. They have only the clothes on their backs and a cart filled with supplies from their homeland.

The townspeople work, build, get older, have children, and eventually die. Keeping them healthy, happy, and fed are essential to making a successful town grow. Any structure can be built at any time, provided that your people have collected the resources to do so.

There are many occupations that the people can perform from farming, hunting, and blacksmithing, to fishing, teaching, and healing. You can choose to replant forests, mine for iron, and quarry for rock, and more!

  • Build a city with any layout you want with almost no restriction on when, what, and where you build.
  • Keep the population happy and healthy by providing them with food and warm shelter.
  • Watch the town grow as you assign 20 different jobs to build buildings, grow food, craft tools and clothing, and more!

Enjoy!

This game is a good idea but unfortunately you end up needing to optimise around the game's bugs and limitations (which you have to learn as you go) rather than any kind of intuitive optimisation.

It's in a whole different price range, but if you are looking for something like this but much better, Anno 1800 is a good one.

Nice to hear Anno 1800 is similar in game.

I am waiting for that game to have a complete edition and good sale.

No rush as honestly YouTube videos and streams will suffice me for now unless I buckle.

Banished got me so hype when they first came out, it was the beginning of a new age.

A good next gen RTS wave.

Seems like Dwarf fortress lite, without the boat murder madness.

  • nice. it is praised in most reviews.

  • It's been a while since I played, but it is a great game. However, it is really open-ended and there is ultimately no point other than to continue to expand your settlement.

Your enjoyment of the game is dependent on whether you are happy to just keep building or if you need to have some sort of consistent challenge thrown at you.
