Price drop already
The SRPD63K is beautiful. Shame it's gone already :*(
yeah, green was going to be my choice as is don’t own any green watches.
Wow, looks very nice for a Seiko 5, will keep my eye out for this. The others look pretty good too.
Grey market SKX is ~$300. I do love the dimensions and case shape of the new model which is shared with the SKX and also the black PVD is of interest. But Please - no screw down crown and Seiko 5 logo??? To me at least it's a downgrade. Maybe when the 'hype' goes down and stock levels rise I'll consider one for the kids. I know the push/pull will be fine for swimming for most, but not me. I'd rather buy an SKX and supercharge it. Sure a lot of people will say just get a Turtle. I have one, but the SKX is a lot smaller. Just my thoughts.
Also, I looked at the SRPD93 which is RRP $499 AU after discount, but RRP is $438 in the US with no discount.
These prices are firmly in micro brand territory - which for me offer far better value at these prices. Quite frankly, this is not a limited edition Thai or Japanese release, but a mass-produced watch that will be around for years in these iterations. Just wait until Xmas if you want a bargain.
Agree with this comment. seems pricey for what they are and im sure they'll start dropping soon.
Although the SKX is now ended production so prices will start going up. (already they seem to have been…so grab one quick)
They're also still running hardlex. I wouldnt think I'd see the day where Seiko 5's are $500+!
They are nice looking and the NH35 whatever is fine but I think I'm going over to Orient lol… they at least change their specs according to consumer demand.
Also owned by Seiko Epson…
Also agree. Plenty of Chinese watches use the Seiko 5 movement and sell for ~$70. That's a lot of extra money for a nicer case. Although, I guess that's what you're paying for with watches.
Any recommendations for micro brands? I have been looking for a dive watch.
Most production lines take some time to bed down as well - that's another reason to wait, quite apart from the uninspiring pricing…
Didn't actually look at the price, way too expensive for a Seiko 5. They look better than regular Seiko 5s though. I thought the main idea of Seiko 5 is to have an affordable mechanical watch? $500 ain't affordable.
some great colors but pity not wr200 for those into watersports, screw down crown.
Just servicing my Oris costs more than these.
FYI for people who may not know, but Swiss automatic watches require servicing every 3-5 years or they just stop.
Mate if your watches are stopping in 5 years you either have major qc issues or you aren't taking care of them
They're supposed to be oiled, etc… and if they're not like mine right now they slow and then stop.
My last service was an "overhaul" in 2015 which cost $500.
Presently it's stopped in my draw.
my omega still running after daily for 10 years without servicing
@dcep: My Seiko kinetic ran for 10yrs until the screen smashed at the bottom of a pool.
Which model Omega?

Oris watches require careful treatment together with a full service every three to five years because there is always a certain amount of abrasion in mechanical devices.
Our full service is a thorough and time-consuming process that involves completely dismantling, cleaning, lubricating, and reassembling the movement. After servicing, every movement goes through a special series of tests, where it has to conform to stringent precision standards. This is the best way to ensure that your Oris watch will continue to run accurately for years to come. The work comes with a one-year guarantee.
you sir, got shafted unless it was oris' in-house movement. 90% of the oris line is ETA movements, servicing should cost $200 or less.
Oris actually uses sellita in most watches, but same thing basically
Who does $200 Oris service?
If you take it to an independent watchmaker, it shouldn't cost too much. This depends on the oris, some models have oris in-house parts even if the movement is Eta-based, and will actually require servicing at an oris servicing centre. If you're lucky, it may be fully serviceable independently.
Not true for all Swiss. My seamaster has a service recommendation of 5-8 years. It won’t be cheap though.
Any automatical women's watches on deal?
I’m just curious - why? What are the benefits of this watch over a cheaper option?
No criticism, I’m just curious.
Compared to quartz watches: doesn’t need batteries ever; is much less accurate; might feel satisfying knowing it’s all mechanical engineering and there’s no electricity being used.
Compared to cheaper autos: usually more accurate (5-10s/day vs 30s/day); properly waterproof.
Compared to cheaper watches: aesthetic design that looks nice without buying into the most transient fashion cycles; better materials (more scratch resistant etc); nicer finishings on the hands, dial etc.
I’d you don’t like the idea of an auto, just get a nice quartz, or a solar EcoDrive or something. It’s mostly about collectability and jewellery aspects, rather than straight utility.
Cool thanks for the detailed reply
Its a Seiko 5. Its the quasi Toyota Camry of automatic watches. They have a cult following.
You may as well ask why people buy TAG Omega Rolex and all the upper brands.
i thought seiko 5 usually around 200+
These established models are still going…
SKX is much better bought my skx009J around six months ago for $220.
What’s “much better” about it?
The new Seiko 5s are desk divers the SKX is a tried and tested ISO rated proper dive watch.
Price in title please.
