This app is always free and basically allows you to choose YouTube songs and play them in the background aka turn off your screen and listen. Also has the option of only playing audio at low or original quality to save data. Won't play every song but will play about 90%

Download F-Droid .APK from the official site, search YouTube Vanced inside there and install. Done.
Just did but I don't seem to see Vanced there. I could only see NewPipe?
Vanced isn't on Fdroid. It's worth getting the apk from XDA though as it's insanely good.

You don't need links. It's like creating counterfeit money all you have to do is make it look the same. In this case, have the same login UI but direct the login and password to a database somewhere then parse the password to the real Google server.
It uses MicroG to to sign in, which is indeed open source.
I dont use my main Google account. I have one just for these type of things
Vanced still plays video ads. The most annoying ads of all…
If somebody knows how to stop these (especially when using Chromecast), I'd be eternally grateful.

Yeah but YouTube vanced is more complicated you gotta install additional software. This is a simple download, open and play.
Also I'm using vanced now, where is the option to disable the video so you save data?

A. No, it does not. After going into background playback, you will only download audio so there will be much less data usage.

+1 for firetube. Its a good app. Developer is always quick to update it when youtube changes their security
or use Youtube Vanced.
Why not just get Google Play Music? That way you get YouTube Premium with background play for free. Then you're supporting the content creaters and get a great music streaming service.
No need for this, just use YouTube Vanced like everyone else. Works as a YouTube client, but removes all ads and has background play. Works 100% of the time and uses the modern YouTube client.
