just wondering what kind of fish and chips is worth $45 ???

Reminds me of a store down in The Entrance, massive serving of chips and fish fillets wrapped in paper, eaten by the water. Simple and the best.

Can you remember the name of the place?

      Thanks.

Not the fish and chips at Doyles, that's for certain — they use frozen chips, for goodness sake! Doyles is the sort of restaurant you bring overseas guests to, just so they can admire "the view". The food is very, very average, and not at all worth the asking price (I'd even hesitate to call this offer good value) — there are far better culinary experiences in Sydney.

"Never trust a restaurant with a view" is an adage that generally rings true. :)

  • Pictures of the actual dishes you will receive are displayed in the offer.

I applaud this idea of including photographs of the actual deal being offered.

However, the value is not there - unless one includes the location/view (but this is winter.. so?)

    Still a Positive from me.

  • Hey REP - I wish you guys would sell these on a per person basis. That way I could go alone or in a trio. The whole world isn't made up of pairs.

Unless these guys have seriously lifted their game, this might be one to duck out on.

Gives you an idea of what diners are saying

  • $174 for dinner of fish and chips…. haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaha

  • Make it 54% off the current price $79 and it's approaching an OK deal…

  • shocking review.
OP, please next time look at the reviews of restaurant you intend to promote before you approach them.

  • I have been to this restaurant a few times over the years (the last time being Oct 2010), mainly because some family members like to go there for the view when entertaining overseas visitors. I'm afraid I have to agree that it is very overpriced, and the service is haphazard, and I always end up grumbling. It is fine-dining prices for cafe food and service. I can remember the $40+ fish pies that are "fake" pies (i.e. just puff pastry across the top of a baking dish), and the food quality is really ordinary.

However, if you MUST go there for whatever reason, the above price is acceptable for 2 people. Just lower your expectations and enjoy the view.
