I purchased this in a previous sale and it's brilliant.. Highly recommended.

I have used it on both my cars and love it.

If you're considering dipping your toes in the ceramic spray craze, you will not be disapointed.

Heaps of youtube demo videos on this product also, very easy to apply.

Great. I got another $10 off by adding the Meguiar's Supreme Shine Drying Towel ($19.49). Total $41.33

    • I don't know how their system works but I ended up getting both for $36.23
It seems to vary between stores!

    • Is the towel any better than the cheapo from Kmart? 4 times better?

      • +2

        Quality wise yes

    • I am trying to do this online but when I add the towel, I dont get any extra discount, cart shows $51.33 ?

      • +2

The Matrix repaired itself last night

  • +1

Don't forget to use your VIP club card as well for additional savings if you get the drying towel.

  • +3

Or you can add 2 x Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax for $38.79. Great price.

    • +1

bit weird, I just bought one for $21.84. Reading the comments it seems kind of inconsistent

      • same

      • One store come up at $38 for the spray and cloth, and another came at $36
I have no clue how it works but I'm definitely not complaining!

      • What store are you using? That’s still cheaper then my store @ $38 even with $7 postage.

        • That was Doveton VIC for the $38 and Cranbourne VIC for the $36!

  • Just in time. Fantastic price.

  • Thanks OP. just got 2 for $39.49

  • Receipt showing $35.74 with a $16.00 discount so $19.74 for one, bought two separately and both were confirmed. Thanks OP.

However I have a feeling this is another price/system error similar to the Omen notebook… We'll see…worse case get the money back :)

  • +4

I think it was a price error which has now been fixed.

My cart just updated and the price changed to $31.84 each.

  • I'm more intrigued by Mothers CMX Ceramic spray with it's silica and titanium dioxide, anyone tried both?

  • +1

How do you take this ceramic coating off? Just a wash with some soap?

    • -3

      Try pentene pro v shampoo

    • It's like wax, it will come off after a few washes out after a few weeks/months

      • I thought this ceramic one last years if put on initial foundation?

        • +3

This is spray on, so nothing like a proper ceramic application at all.

          • @onlinepred: You are thinking if ceramic coating, as a detailer myself I would recommend Nova Evo possibly called Nv Evo now from site waxit.

For spray coatings I would also recommend Nv Jet instead if this

Edit- i dont know how to get rid of tag, reply is for original question

Edit - The very best coatings normal customers cannot buy you need to be certified by the company, ie Nv Evo Pro and IGL Kenzo

            • @BenTheBargainer2013: ^this 100%

Nv (formerly Concours) make some of the very best and innovative detailing products on the market. Meguiars is a great over the counter brand (probably the best) but doesn't compete at the same level as some detailing brands. Nv is not only a great brand they are Australian too.

My best advice is to find something you like and use it often. Try something new and you may just find a new favourite.

              • +1

@4agte: 4agte I was waiting for you to comment haha always see you on the detailing deals lol

And yes I just switched to purge for my business and i loveee it so much easier and foams up really nicely

                • @BenTheBargainer2013: Haven't looked back since switching to it. Picked up some Nv Purity this week. While it has a completely different application I'm keen to see how it compares to Iron X

    • A spray on usually lasts ~6 weeks?

    • Immediately - clay and/or polish

    Thanks.

I'm a Meg's fan, but Pan the Organiser on Youtube has a comparison of these spray sealants and Turtle Wax is the clear winner. (And I hate Turtle Wax).

    • +2

Surprised he provided a conclusion. I stopped watching him because many videos failed to do this.
I do miss his intro "Hello everybody I'm PAAANNNNNNN the detailer"

    • +3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usA3lvRbFO4 Car Craft Auto Detailing has a different result, but he applies the ceramic wax dry rather than wet application.

      • +1

Sandro is brilliant. Best detailing reviewer on YouTube imo

  • -3

Great price but application is too complicated. I would get Mother CMX instead. Easier to apply just wax on and wax off.

    • +10

(1st application) spray on, wipe off.
(2nd and further applications) Spray on, wash off with water.

This is too complicated for you? Wow.

      Nonsense, it's incredibly simple.

  • Just used this deal and applied it on the car, result is good… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/479002
Should I throw it away and buy this one?

  • I have a ceramic coating from the dealership but unfortunately made some light scratches from improper washing. Does anyone know if this product can help remove those annoying scratches without stripping off the ceramic coating? Thanks

    • Highly doubt this will help with any light scratches.

    • Scratches are tiny grooves in the surface of your paint. If you lightly run the back of your nail across the scratches, if it catches, not much will be able to help you. But if it doesn't you could probably use a proper sealant/wax to fill in the grooves.
This is probably too light duty to do anything for scratches.

      • It's not quite scratches per say, but more like light swirls. Sealant/wax might help but I just worry it also strip off the dealership ceramic coating.

        • +1

light swirls are, at the core of it, just smaller lighter scratches. The sealant/wax will simply sit on top of the ceramic coating and fill in the gaps. If you pour water over the swirled area and the swirls dissapear, that's basically what the sealant/wax will do.

          • @caydus: Thanks that'll be good enough, as long as it disappears for a while. I don't mind spraying this ceramic wax spray once every few months. Will give it a shot :)

      • On a newish car, more likely to be in the clearcoat than the actual paint.

        • No its just swirls on the dealership ceramic coating, not the actual paint. Still extremely annoying however..

          • +1

@itstuan: I wouldnt be suprised if the swirls were there when the dealership coated it, you ahould see some of the cars I have seen that have been dealership coated.

They usually use crappy coatings and dont or hardly correct the paint at all

            • @BenTheBargainer2013: That's crazy, if I had known better. But I'm sure the swirls appears after I washed the car. The patterns looks like the brush stroke. Its painful to look on a 2 months old car.

              • @itstuan: 2 months old?? What do you wash it with?

                • @buckster: brush at self car wash, yes, stupidity. But it never caused any issue with my other older car. The ceramic coating from dealership is useless.

                  • @itstuan: Any brush will swirl any ceramic coated car it doesnt make then bulletproof, put a high intensity light to the paint and your older car will be swirled too

2 bucket method at a minimum
Snow foam helps but 2 bucket method with grit guards is the best

    • +1

You will need to strip the coating off, paint correct (if required), and reapply coating unfortunately. How long have you had the coating for?

      • Just over 2 months sigh
It's not quite scratches but more like swirls all over the car causing from the brush at the self wash. Stupid I know!

        • brush at the self wash

Oh no. I cringe every time I see people using that.

          • @TheOneWhoKnocks: It's a one minute decision of stupidity that I have regretted since. However I used self wash on an older car but it had never scratched like this. I guess the dealership coating is not as tough as they claimed.

    • +3

Ceramic coat from a dealer will be rubbish anyway. Enlist a proper detailer, strip everything off, correct the paint and use a good quality coating like Gyeon or Modesta etc.

      • I wish I didn't listen to the crap they were selling thinking I'd never wax my car again and it's scratch resistant. Can't event even resist the brush!!

        • +1

          Don't use a brush!

      • You are so very true, one of the biggest scams going on, I have seen insider photos of cars being washed with brooms before coating

Photos of cars being coated whilst still on the truck

    • Light swell scratches are from factory. They are normal and on most new cars as cars are painted to a cost. You have removed some of the paint protection, which made the swells more visible.

Your clear coat comes with a warranty. If your sales person did not tell you that the system is incompatible with an automated car wash, they owe you a re-application (especially considering that they said the system is scratch resistant, which is a load of crap). If you have claims that the system is scratch resistant in writing, you are set. If not, getting a reapplication depends on the good will of the dealership.

      Nice comparo, thx

Sandro is the man, great videos!

  • How does this compare with the Bowden's Own Happy Ending?

    • Bowdens product is not a ceramic spray, just a drying aid.

bowdens stuff is quite good, however.

      • +2

Happy Ending and Wet Dreams are protective coatings, not drying aids. They aren't SiO2 based like this, but are aimed at doing the same thing.
HE being lance/pressure washer applied and WD being spray bottle like this.

I use HE and the ease of use and results will keep me coming back. Highly recommend it and with it currently being $39 at Repco, it's worth every cent. Would last longer than the Meg's bottle, you only need around 50ml per car.

Even WD at under $23 would be better value IMO, similar sized bottle but a decent price difference.

        • I thought they were something completely different…

          • @buckster: They're all hydrophobic paint protection.
Meg's uses SiO2, Mothers uses SiO2 and TiO2 and Bowden's didn't want to use either as they're concerned they may eventually end up being harmful so came up with their own formula that has the same result.

            • @whitelie: I meant wet dreams and happy endings… Anyway moving on!

    • I've not used Happy ending but have used the wet dreams (so similar performance) and I've used the Meguiars spray and TBH I was not that impressed with it compared to wet dreams. I know they are two different styled products and applied differently but I would choose the BO over this any day for the performance and the price (even at 35% off it's too expensive for what it offers IMHO).

Over a 6 week period the Bowdens Own offered more protection and lasted longer than the Meguiars on the two cars I AB'd - both parked/lived 24/7 outdoors and daily driven.

That said I prefer to use (on customers and my own personal cars) other products/brands available over the Bowdens gear (wet dreams, after glow etc.)

I know others have had good success with this though, so take it all with a grain of salt!

  • It’s showing $35.74 on my end.

I just remembered the kids story "The emperors new clothes". You can spend the entire weekend slapping this turd on your car but batsh!t will eat through it like there's nothing there.

Paint stops metal from corrosion. And the clear coat protects the paint. After you spend $40 and an hour on application , what will protect the wax? Where does it stop?

    • +1

An hour? You spray it on and wipe or hose it off. If it takes an hour, you're doing something very wrong.

    • +2

I rather spend $40 to protect my clear coat, that's not renewable, than doing nothing and "hope" the clear coat will stand the test of time and not eat into the actual paint. Why would you need to protect the wax when that's a renewable layer that's meant to be replenished?

Not much bats in metro Melbourne and whenever there's birdshit on my car, I clean it off pronto, even if it's just with water and tissues I have in my car.

Seems that the only stock left is in Central Coast stores in NSW

  • Mothers CMX is slightly better than this one.
But both of them are pretty good for the price

  • So This Instead of waxing - or after waxing

wash > clay bar > polish > wax > ceramic spray

    or

wash > clay bar > polish > ceramic spray

    • +3

Here's what you should do for the very first application of HCW, especially if you don't have a really strong layer of protection on the paint to begin with.

      "Foundation Layer"

Wash the vehicle with your normal process, rinse thoroughly but leave wet
Spray no more than 2 trigger pulls of product onto a panel - 3 for a large panel such as the hood of a large vehicle, roof, etc.
Dry with a quality microfiber drying towel
      Done

If, on the other hand, you have really nice water beading from a previous, fresh wax application or you've already done the foundation layer as described above, then do this:

      "Standard Application"

Wash the vehicle with your normal process, rinse thoroughly but leave wet
Spray no more than 2 trigger pulls of product onto a panel - 3 for a large panel such as the hood of a large vehicle, roof, etc.
Rinse thoroughly with a strong stream of water. A pressure washer works great, but lacking same the best approach is to use a variable setting nozzle on your garden hose and select the flat fan spray pattern. Trust me here, it's the best choice of all the settings on the nozzle for this. We've tested more dang nozzles than I care to remember.
Dry with a quality microfiber drying towel
      Done
