Best place to buy Omega watches in Melb / biggest discount from an authorised dealer

Hi all

Any ideas on where to get Omega watches in Melbourne for the biggest discount? Thinking of getting the Speedmaster professional Hesalite.

Chronext has it for 10% lower than RRP but am hoping there will be authorised dealers that can do 15%+ discount (seems like some in Sydney can do 15-20%).

Any ideas where to go in Melbourne?

Thanks

  • I heard Monards are good. Shum's if you're in Sydney.

  • Any ideas what kind of discount they do?

    • Ask around if anyone around you has a good relationship with AD. Go in with them, ask for pricing. If u call AD without going in - they are just going to give you about 5% off.

    • Aim for 15-20%. I know 20% is achievable and cash is king at watch dealers ;)

  • I would've thought a B&M store would offer a smaller discount than online…

  • That's what I thought but heard some 15-20% AD discount so thought I'd narrow down a list and hit them up to see if I can get that kind of discount

  • I would try calling around for their best price if purchased today. Say you will buy now for cash. Its not like a lot of watches would be going out the door on a Tuesday morning. Staff would be bored.

  • I bought an omega for much lower than other retailers from monards. With very little bargaining, I just asked for their best price on a specific model, and they straightaway gave me a much much lower price than other retailers were asking for, even after very hard bargaining. This was in Melbourne quite a few years ago but probably good place to start regardless.

  • Jomashop will incur GST (and I worry about other fees) so won't be that cheap after that

Chronext has handled all that and you can also claim GST on purchases there, so it's not bad - just wanting to see what's better :)

Will try Monards - thanks guys

FYI also - Omega at Crown will give you 5% back into a crown loyalty card, and throw in gift with purchase (e.g. a pen and another strap), but no discount - and then you got to spend that 5% in Crown restaurants, etc (so I would prefer just a straight out discount - this particular model already comes with 2 additional straps)

  • +2

Considering where the aud is, propably not a good time to buy, prices have gone up significantly. This kind of luxury goods are better off being bought with a strong aud.

  • I don't think they reprice them here in retail shops with the dropping aud on a regular basis (or not by the same extent) - we have some of the cheaper watch prices I have seen (some models RRP here cheaper than Europe with tax taken out)
