So what? This is like offering a tiny trinket worth $0.99 and then adding a $35 shipping fee. The money all goes to the same place.

You could pay $20 for one month hosting and get a .com.au domain worth $33.95 free for two years. So instead of paying $53.95, you pay $20 which is a 62.92% discount.
What's the point of a free domain name if they are charging you heaps on the hosting? It's giving with one hand, and taking with the other.
