Best Deal for Chicken Pieces Atm?

So just wondering what is the current cheapest deal to get any amount of chicken basically the cheapest chicken per $ deal which can include chips/drink/sides etc just want the chicken mainly though.

I am pretty sure as at now 27 August 2019 that the 9 for $9.95 deal is not on or anything close to it so wondering what is the best deal for just chicken be it original, boneless or hot and spicy I just want chicken.

I find the burgers at KFC good but too expensive compared to $2 cheesy cheeseburgers at Hungry Jacks which taste pretty good.

I can get 3 x $2 cheesy cheeseburgers at Hungry Jacks or 1 x $6 big mac at McDonalds or 1 x $6 zinger/original burger at KFC so Hungry Jacks usually win out.

So TL;DR what is the best deal offer for chicken pieces atm?

Bring back dinner pack, 9pc and 2 lg chips for $15

    • What is the closest atm to a dinner pack.

Honestly I just need about 5 to 6 pieces max maybe a chip or two but mainly just the chicken.

I bring my own drinks unless they come free with a meal but that is rare these days.

    • Do they have this at every kfc?

      • I don't think so, as ours at Warners Bay was charging $17.95.

        • Yeah the closest one I could see was 10pc and 2 large sides for $20

Cook at home. Going for cheap junk and you will payback through lack of health later on in life.

    • +2

Not an option otherwise yeah I wouldn't even be on this website probably.

Sausage and steak all day if I could at home.

But I live in a vegetarian household so meat is only allowed where there are no prying eyes or when everyone is out.

      • +3

It would be funny if everyone in the household was also not strictly vegetarian and were gobbling down meat when they thought no one was looking.

        • +1

:) that has crossed my mind and if they were they are very good at it.. I am pretty blatant about me eating non vegetarian food outside the house

        Sounds horrible. Good luck!

Does it have to be pieces or KFC?

If not - Woolies roast chicken at around 6-7pm is still the cheapest. Then also add on this 'hack':

    https://www.who.com.au/woolworths-roast-chicken-discounts

A little-known Woolworths rule states that if that hot chickens have been on display for more than four hours, the store is meant to offer you a discount, which is usually around 30 per cent.

Said one follower: ‘I had $2 taken off mine a while back only because I asked. Added another: ‘I got two BBQ chickens for $1.80 each tonight!’

Can't beat $1.80 for a whole roast chicken.

    • My main issue is I cannot bring the food home and have to consume it then and there and usually 5 to 6 pieces is more than enough for a day of eating.

Otherwise I would be swimming in chicken kewpie/big mac sauce mayo with tomato and lettuce sandwiches at home all the time.

Strict vegetarian household so gotta be naughty outside.

It is why I have had to resort to eating outside if I want anything meat related.

Sucks but there are pros and cons to my arrangement.

This is one of the cons kinda in a bad way.

      • +1

and have to consume it then and there

Hmm. Then you're stuck with buying single-serve portions which will really limit how cheap you can get. I think best bet is still local chicken shop around closing time. Only problem is that the ones near me all close really late (7-9pm ish), don't know if any ones near you close earlier.

Woolies also sells smaller portions of chicken, but nowhere near as cost-effective. Though if you can really get a chicken for $1.80 - find a nearby empty food court?

        • Hmm yeah. My local chicken shop is not ozbargain worthy unfortunately.. honestly a lot of the shops near me sell about 33% more than other shops only 40 to 50 km away so eating out becomes an emergency only thing instead of a nice reliable source.

Wish there was $5 lebanese meat cheese pizza near me as that would be my go to but none in my area but loads further in you get to Sydney.

Price of convenience and serving a smaller population I guess and the demographic of my area.

Subway $8 sub of the day is best deal up here in the mountains or Domino's which gets old.

Need to spice it up have honestly thought of bringing a new chain up here as it would make a killing but I feel like this area frowns upon that like how Newtown in Sydney are basically Anti Nuclear Activists and Greenpeace lovers.

    • I generally get them for $1 most nights. The staff have been keeping them lately or not cooking enough so that they sell out way before closing time.

This isn't a 'hack' - it's particular stores being dodgy.

The chickens aren't allowed to be on display for over 4 hours under any circumstances.

Correct process is that chickens are meant to be marked down 30 minutes prior (usually to 30%) and then again at a clearance price if the store decides to just before the 4 hour mark.

Alternatively the store may choose to not mark them down, take them off show at the 4 hour mark and sell them as shredded chicken

Any idea if KFC Australia still do boneless chicken at all in their menu or did they phase that out?

      • The Original tender is boneless if thats what you're after

        • +1

Looking for something like the original piece chicken or hot and spicy but boneless.

The tenders are great but just tenders and definitely not good value.

          • +1

@AlienC: You're after fillets - basically what they put in the burgers.

            • @HighAndDry: I have tried a fillet box of just zingers it was about 6 for $18 to $20.. good option but I just want their original/hotandspicy recipe with no bones really but yeah the fillets by themselves are quite nice.

              • @AlienC: Oh that's a good point - I don't think they do boneless hot-n-spicy.

                • +1

@HighAndDry: Oh man boneless hot n spicy would be a dream.

I wonder if any store in Sydney does one.. I might consider travelling to it if it works out around $2-3 a piece.. if it becomes $5 a piece no deal for me.

The zinger stacker from KFC with the free chips and drinks $8.95

You can use the 'Build your own Bucket on the App.

    EG

    9 Pieces - $11.95
    6 Pieces - $8.95
    3 Pieces - $5.95
    6 Wicked Wings $4.95
    3 Wicked Wings $2.95
Or choose from Nuggets, fillets Tenders , Popcorn chicken

You need to choose a minimum 3 of the above
    ie 1 x 12 piece, 1 x 3 piece, 1 x 6 Wicked wings = $25.85

There was an article on news.com.au you may find interesting.

    • Good idea if I am in the mood to pig out but I just want a decent tasty meal of maybe 6 pieces max or the equivalent in proportion in fillets/wings/tenders/boneless/etc.

Wish they would have a 6 piece feed for like $11 throughout the year or something that would be ideal for me.

What's your dietitian say about your hunger for fried chicken? Also, is this good for your diabetes?

    • +2

shhhh out of sight out of mind :)

      • +1

C'mon, your health is more important than your satiety!

        • We all have to die of something. We're a long time dead and there's no fried chicken in heaven. :)

I've met too many oldies who have nothing to regret and still get sick or infirm in their old age.

A neighbour lived clean his whole life and still developed Alzheimers in his 70s.

Another poor guy is in his 80s and in a wheelchair due to medical negligence after a lifetime of trucking. No booze, no drugs, lived life straighty-180, and always on the go. He asked me what he should do and I told him if he had ever been interested in vodka and heroin, now's the time to take it up.

          • @eyeballz2770:

and there's no fried chicken in heaven.

What? No! Wouldn't be heaven without fried chicken.

      • Mate, 1. Health comes first. Can't enjoy anything if you're seriously ill. 2. Think of the poor taxpayers subsidising your healthcare - if anything, the OzBargainer in you should understand that.

        • +1

I'll worry about that when politicians stop rorting the taxpayers.

          • @eyeballz2770: Ha, like that'll ever happen. Money is money. Save a bit, means a bit more for everybody. Though I'm more worried about OP's health.

            • @HighAndDry: He's young. He'll figure it out when the midlife crisis hits. :)

              • @eyeballz2770: Not to be dramatic but his GP recommended him see a dietitian. OP needs to get to middle age first!

I don't know. It's a tough balance. In some ways, I wish I was more careful when I was younger. But in other ways I also wished I took more risks.

I think eating fried chicken isn't the type of thing you look back and wish you did more of though. Maybe things like travelling more, getting out more, trying different… substances… more, hell, even sleeping around more.

  • I can relate to this. KFC doesn't have any good deals on chicken, which is surprising considering they are KFC.

    • ^ This.
I have received an email this afternoon from KFC stating that from tomorrow they are bringing back the 4 add on pieces for $6.95… Not sure if they would allow us to buy it as a "stand alone."

      • Well, this is good news for KFC lovers! Hence, there would be minimum spending for sure.
