Qoop.com.au official thread

G'day bargain hunters!

I'd like to formally introduce myself as the Store Representative for Qoop.com.au (http://qoop.com.au) - one of Australia's newest daily deal sites.

Qoop has been running for close to 3 weeks and, as of right now, we have 57680 users registered on our site. Qoop isn't just another group buy site. We have some very clever and innovative features that we have currently 'locked' until we gain some momentum in the market (to obviously stop other sites from copying us very quickly!).

We are committed to 100% customer satisfaction including a money back guarantee if you have issues with any deals. Unlike other group buy sites, we don't just give out 100% of the money to shops before our users redeem the deal. This keeps them on their toes and helps us weed our stores that are just in it for the money. Our top priority is to build long lasting relationships between businesses and customers.

I'd love to answer comments or questions you might have about us or any of our deals.

Thank you!
Qoopy.

  • What are the terms of your money back or 100% satisfaction, or refunds when there is an issue?

      Hi Mikinoz

      From our site: (http://qoop.com.au/guarantee.html)

      TERMS & CONDITIONS:
      1) There isn't much to it. Just don't abuse the Qoop Guarantee. If you're the type of person who's tempted to buy a million Qoopons then demand refunds for all of them, we're going to know.
      2) We're not the Supplier. While we'll refund you if you feel that Qoop let you down, we're still not legally responsible. If you've been injured in some way, it's the supplier's responsibility. And if you're caught on a hot date with somebody who's not your partner, that's your responsibility.
      3) We won't offer refunds if you've simply changed your mind, or missed an appointmentment. Unlike other daily deal sites, we have a whole team who look after issues our customers face. You will always get a response within a day.

        appointmentment

        step 1. Sack the proof-reader…..

        • Oops - that would be me! :\

Copy + pasted from the page but the last line didn't copy for some weird reason so I had to type that up.

          Sorry, been a loooooong day..

        • +1

I too copy and pasted from the page….. but good to see you've fixed it now

  • Been following Qoop for a little while. Saw a few ads on Seek so it seems you are not a one man operation.

One word of advice, don't bite the hand that feeds you. It appears your last post offering credit was removed due to sockpuppeting. I noticed your post on Whirlpool was also removed due to SPAM. I suggest you read each sites rules.

There is a small crowd of loud negative people here but I suggest you quiet them down by offering truly good deals.

That said, I notice as more people buy your products, the more cashback people receive. What assurances do we have that the number sold is actually the number and not just a mechanism for others to share the deal? Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of the more the better the deal but it involves trust.

    • Thanks for the support and the awesome feedback Neil.

We have a great team here at Qoop and our office at Pyrmont keeps getting smaller every week as we hire new staff. We're definitely filling our nest with great deals. As you know, we're competing with companies backed by massive media companies and so it has been quite challenging!

We have been lucky to get an overwhelming show of support from a lot of companies that we have approached. They love our innovations and are excited about Qoops complete rollout. It isn't just customers that have been hurt with the poor standards of the big companies, it's also businesses that have been hit. Most are promised the world, and end up getting nothing in return. We are committed to building ACTUAL relationships between customers and businesses.

The counter on the site displaying the # sold is live. It's actually in our best interests to keep this number accurate as it builds consumer confidence when a large number of Qoopons have been sold (according to our research, anyway). The actual suppliers (stores, restaurants etc etc) do keep an eye out on our website when their deal is running as well. We can't really lie about these numbers without getting into trouble from them either.

I do see your point though. We want Qoop to be as transparent as possible. Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve the system without giving away the privacy of our users?

      • +1

I ask about the numbers because I have seen some sites fudging their numbers.

        Easy example: http://www.blue-pages.com.au/groupbuy/deal/flyer/

Lucky number 33 for all of their deals.

Not sure how you could verify it other than saying verified by Big Name Financial company. I guess it's not an issue. It's interesting the amount of hate that Scoopoon has brought to newcomers in the group buy industry.

None for Perth yet, but will keeping an eye out for it!

Our Perth crew are preparing to launch soon! AS soon as we a few more good quality deals in Perth, we'll hit the launch button!

  • cant see the site comes up as blog/personal page at work. can u fix it!

  • @finance @amelyn

Can you give me more info about your company? Normally the only way around company filters is to directly liaise with the IT department (unless there's something specific on our site that's triggering their filters).

Feel free to email that information to me ([email protected]) if you feel uncomfortable putting that information here.

    • not sure why, its a large gov org so nothing can be done IT wise here.

But same thing happened with zizzle when they first came out, but now it's fine.
still cant view buyii but allthedeals works. maybe it's the hosting thing!!!

      • Honestly, I have the same problem as you. Had trouble with zizzle, can't view buyii.

My company is an insurance company with very conservative values… no external email, no facebook, no pbase.

    Hi,

I hope that you guys get an actual worthwhile deal together some time soon,(Mod Edit - Please stick to verifiable info please) frankly, a poor way to introduce yourself!

There are discrepancies between your money-back-guarantee, and your terms and conditions: your terms and conditions state that "15.1 Qoopons are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged or redeemed for cash because you have changed your mind, are unable to use the Qoopon, or the Qoopon has been damaged, lost or stolen."
Please explain why you advertise a money back guarantee, when your terms state that these vouchers are non-refundable?

12.2 Qoop makes no guarantee, warranty or representation regarding the standard of any product to be provided."

So basically, if i buy something from your site, I a) cannot get my money back, and b) have absolutely no guarantee that I will get the service/deal…wtf?

Pair this with the fact that the company advertises for free intern workers on gumtree…Sorry guys, but your site sounds like it's likely to be running some kind of scam.

Hi nieza, (wow, you must really be a big fan of Qoop! You've only ever posted on our threads bar 1) ;)

I'm not sure what you mean by saying our last deal was just lies? What exactly do you mean? It was a legitimate deal from a legitimate supplier.

The Qoopons are ultimately non-refundable goods as we are not the supplier of the product. We cannot guarantee the quality of any product provided (unless we provided the service ourselves!), except we make sure we do deals with only companies that are interested in building relationships with customers - not just the ones that are in it for a quick buck! Our money-back guarantee is a promise we make to our customers based on how confident we are that we have the right businesses on board. We have to make sure that the promise system is not abused, which is why it is clearly stated in our terms and conditions that the coupon is non-refundable for reasons that are not legitimate.

While I appreciate your comments, at the end of the day, our aim is to be a company that actually takes care of customers. I'm not sure if you've had any experience with our big competitors, but they are hopeless! Give us some credit for trying to fix the issues this space has.

Re: the interns; we have close to 20 people working for Qoop at the moment. Only about 3 of them are interns and they are not working for 'free'. Interns are awesome, we love working with them because they bring so many new, cool ideas to the table!

We are definitely not a scam - in fact, I invite you to come and visit us at THE COOPERAGE building in Pyrmont. (56 Bowman Street, Pyrmont NSW). If you need directions, http://maps.google.com/maps?q=the+cooperage,+56+bowman+streeā€¦

Your money back guarantee does sound completely unenforceable if you go by the terms and conditions that were posted.

  • Just read your comment on the Grouped blog regarding Scoopon sending you a cease and desist and you winning. What's the story behind that?

    • +1

We registered two trademarks (Qoop and Qoopon) which Scoopon weren't too happy with.

Without going into the specifics (bear in mind, this is a legal issue and Ozbargain IS a public forum which makes it a bit harder to say too much without seeking legal advice first) - we sought legal assistance and the end result is that Qoop is still trading.

  • Your 'forgot password' section seems to be broken.

    • Hi Jlove,

Please try again - if you still have issues, email us [support AT qoop.com.au]

  • Just an update - most cities are now live with our national deals :)

  • your money back guarantee is a crock - i have yet to receive an item i paid for back in August and you guys could not be bothered replying to any of my emails.

next stop will be the fair trading website to lodge a complaint about your false advertising and lack of service.

  • So Qoopy, what happened to you guys?

  • I think they might have gone out of business?

    Not looking good.

  • Yep, not looking good. What's more, I've exceeded the usual timeframe for chargebacks as well so I'm $110 out of pocket. I suppose I'll need to chalk this one up as a lessons learned - only deal with the groupbuys with heavy backing…

What's more, there's too many K Singh in Blacktown for me to follow up as well…if his/her phone number is not silent that is.

    • I was doing a chargeback against Focalpoint and asked ANZ how long and they acted like it could potentially be indefinite.

      Try it. You never know.

      • Too bad I'm with CBA and already got a complaint against them at the FOS over a chargeback which was improperly handled. Wasn't a small amount of cashola either…will give that a shot either way.

        • You might have a better chance due to the complaint…. It's not going to hurt, IMO.
