    They are following Virgin Blue, who are $20 cheaper SYD-CBR for instance, and of course Jetstar are cheaper still, use the Jetabroad $50 voucher and you will be $40 ahead with Virgin on most routes.

      Qantas is full service, you're not comparing apples to apples. These prices are great for Qantas routes. Many people fly Qantas because of FF points or for the better service or for the better arrival and departure times.

      I don't agree with your neg.

      • I think you mean the status points. FF points earned vs the extra $$ is usually not worth it. Status points is more useful, but since Qantas removed the Business class check-in for Silver/Ruby, its becoming useless as well. The main advantage (for me) was business check in for international flights, but its now bye bye.

      • Better service? I fly Qantas for work and Virgin/Tiger for personal travel. Surprisingly, I find Tiger's in flight service to be the best of the lot.

      • $40 cheaper than a full service airline, thats a lot of bikies ;)

        Consider the Syd-CBR when you dont even have time for service??

      Qantas = Bananas
      Virgin = Golden Delicious Apples
      Jetstar = Granny Smith Apples

      You can't compare bananas with apples! A full service airline compared to a budget airline; of course they are cheaper! But gee what a difference, especially on long haul flights! Granted this deal is for domestic travel only and again it depends what you are looking for in a flight/airline. Some of us drive Holden Commodores and others of us drive Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadsters; yes I was eyeing it off in the RMH Home Lottery, beyond compare!

      EDIT - Wampus, you beat me to it. Was too busy being verbose! ;)

      I generally try to fly Qantas, but will happily fly Virgin Australia as well.

      However, Qantas isn't quite the full service airline it once was. For example, on domestic routes they only serve complimentary wine after 4pm and not at all on weekends or public holidays. It must be purchased, just like with Virgin. Not quite the service I expect with a full service airline. It's a minor point, but shows how Qantas is starting to penny pinch anywhere it can. They hope business customers (their mainstay) don't notice as they tend to fly on weekdays.

    • I'm sorry you don't see this as good value, though the inclusions of catering, plus more frequent flights to far more destinations at nicer times - that's before you include frequent flyer benefits which are far greater than Virgin (especially for those who fly internationally). While your specific example isn't incorrect, I don't agree with your negative vote.

    Go ahead and book with tiger, you will eventually get to where you are going just not on the day of your booking. But at least the service will be good.

      1. Are you saying Tiger always or regularly cancels/reschedules flights leading to a 24 hour + change?
      2. Are you saying QANTAS hasn't cancelled/rescheduled flights that lead to a 24 hour + change?
