My first post. Watching a very long time.

I've been on a lookout for this for awhile. Cheaper brands out there but have had good experiences with Philips products and reliability.

Philips XXL (latest and largest model) Airfryer being sold at Harvey Norman for $419. Extra 10% off with coupon code (ends midnight tonight) and further $50 cash back via Redemption. Final price $327 which is best I have seen lately.

10% Discount applies to accessories as well.

    • Thanks RogueWolf. I'm out west so shipping from BL kills it for me. Just purchased from HN and pickup same day, no delivery charges for me.

$309.20 (after cash back) pick up from Myer with this deal which is still active -
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/478091
Was $289.32 when first posted but price has moved up since.

    • Thanks Frankly Frankie. For some reason the ebay codes are not being accepted for me… For MYER and also BL. I have a normal ebay account. I tried to check out and codes not working.

Appreciate any help anyone has. Cheers.

    • just wondering how it's down to $309 after cashback? after the discount code in the checkout it looks like $359.20 for me, and then after 1% cashback that's still very far from 309? Am i missing something?

    • yeah i grabbed this for $289 from Myer the other day, so good
      double thumbs up

I managed to get this for $255 back in December from The Good Guys eBay.
    Listed for $424
take off 20% from eBay code
take off further 10% using discounted eBay gift cards
    receive $50 cashback via redemption
    = $255

You can potentially get it a few dollars cheaper now from Bing Lee eBay depending if you have discounted eBay gift cards.

  • Any feedback on using this unit itself?

    • upgraded from first gen philips airfryer to this and can say its a lot better especially the extra space and rack. Plus the digital screen makes it so much easier and more precise

  • Always loved our Philips air fryer, and rarely used the oven.

but after our oven died we purchased a new oven and cooks just the same as the air fryer

So probably best for those with older fan forced ovens.

    • Can you cook deep fry foods like home made spring rolls (not frozen type that have already been cooked before)?

Or chicken wings with your own batter and crumbs? When you buy frozen stuff they have already been battered and cooked for you. All you're doing is heating it up.

Can this thing "deep fry" without oil something that isn't pre-cooked?

      • Yes, just lightly coat them in oil (you can even use that spray oil) and as for wet batter, says online its not recommended as the batter will drip off.

        • how about marinade or basting? They drip off too?

          • @lostn: If you're doing that you use a square oven safe dish that fits in, just like you would an oven.

@brandogs: Then you would have to turn it over.

I thought the point of this was to circulate air in a way that it gets cooked evenly. You still have to turn them over half way?

That makes this just a mini oven.

      • Yes, that was why we have the air fryer, I do home
Made KFC and Spring Rolls as staples. Could never do these in the old oven.

No issues with the new oven, and it’s nothing fancy.
We have the smaller air fryer and one day was sick of doing batches so chucked them all in the oven and was very surprised. (I didn’t ramp the temp up), but was very happy with the outcome.

Still use the air fryer when the kids want 4 nuggets or a small pizza or something. I assume it’s less power than heating a big oven.

        • If you're wrapping the spring rolls yourself, can an airfryer actually cook them and make them crispy?

          • @lostn: Yes, but so does our oven.

i was looking to buy the kmart version but went to see it and that thing is huge. I ended up not getting it because it would take up too much space.

And that is only 3.2L. This thing must be even bigger.

  • Is it worth it to get the small one? It's only $100 less than the XXL. Still big by the dimensions, but I am trying not to accumulate big electronics and I don't think I need a tray that size. Is it still worth getting or is the size not practical?

    • The usable space in these is way smaller than the outside.
We would use ours more if it was bigger.

      • The problem is I don't have a lot of space, and I have a lot of other kitchen appliances already (I would argue too many).

If it has a smaller footprint, I might be tempted.

But it's only $50 cheaper than the XXL after cashback, which I think is not enough of a discount.
