CHICKS

10% off your online order at Zenni Optical. They don’t have discounts very often. We have been using them for about 2 years now and I’m very happy with the quality and our scripts have always been correct. I order single vision so I can’t comment on what the multi focal options are like.

Is this only for chicks ?

I tried blokes, but that code doesn't work.

  • Have been waiting for a Zenni discount, thanks OP!

  • i previously used to buy glasses from Clearly/Zenni and that, but decided to try Specsavers. Ended up getting 2 pairs of Hugo Boss for $35 after all my healthcare rebates

  • Zenni are friggen amazing. Im wearing a pair now that cost me I think $20 delivered for frames and custom lenses.

    • Agreed. When I ordered my last pair from zenni I also added the cheapest and biggest frames I could and ended up paying about $8. They are absolutely hideous but I keep them in the car for driving at night and the prescription is perfect

I like Zenni, but because they can't give an Australian tax invoice, my health insurer won't accept claims for purchases from them. Personally I use Specsavers for my multifocal sunglasses, with health insurance claims, and then I use Zenni for the rest.

Typically a good frame is US$25-$35. The cheap frames are fine for around the house, but do look, well, cheap. Add multifocal prescriptions and I usually end up paying AUD$80 for a set of glasses including delivery.

Before I placed my last Zenni order, I shopped around at a few other online glasses providers, and none had the range for the price that Zenni has.

One frustration with the website is that you can't filter your search by whether the design can accommodate your lens strength. Sometimes you find a nice pair of specs, and then when you click on it and start to fill in the order, it advises you that it is incompatible with your prescription.

  • I have been looking at using Zenni after being disappointed by the frames range at my usual optom (SpecSavers) and others, and after hearing stories of $8 pairs.

I'm unfortunate enough to require a high script (-6.25), enough that Zenni felt it required a surcharge.

So the pair I have sitting in my cart with them works out thus:

    • Frame: $25
    • Anti reflective coating: $5
    • High index: $35
    • High CYL surcharge: $14
      Shipping: $10

As I'm someone who is picky about their frames at the best of times, I decided that that $80 USD pair of frames wasn't worth the risk for me to take the risk on a mail-order pair. (I ordered a pair online from AusSpecs a few years back and hated them - that was $150 down the drain.) The Try-On video feature thing was super fun to play with, once I figured out how to film myself without being able to see my phone 😂

This post isn't a quibble with the company itself (although I thought the CYL surcharge was a bit rich) - I've heard wonderous things about them, and they have to make money somehow. If you're picky like me, online ordering may not be for you.

If someone with a high script like me has ordered though, I'd love to hear your experience!

    • Maybe get as cheap a pair as you can as a trial. Do the $7 frames, ditch the $35 high index charge if you can. Probably keep the anti-reflective coating, 'cause glasses suck without the,m. That way you're risking maybe US$36 for a pair to wear around the house
