I just got text msgs saying "someone has changed your address"

followed by about 400 emails from citibnak, including latest statement

so I dont know whats going on, as i havent done anything since applying 10 days ago

          • @Samsungnote10: The text message happens to me as well, that means they are going to send you the card.

            • @yht: nice!

so to get this deal, I have to convert $1000AUD equivalnt to a foreign currency?

          • @Samsungnote10: I got notification emails and a blank statement lol. Citibank is really the worst. their credit cards are garbage too. Only bothered with this b/c no credit check

            • @freestyle18: I got the "someone has changed your address, if this was not you report it immediately"

and I havent even got my account yet

              • +1

                @Samsungnote10: That's even more concerning
                (facepalm)

                • @freestyle18: finally got my physical card today, activated it,

still cant login, coming up with, account not activated

anyway, if I ve read correctly,
your account has to be open in 4 months time, you have to convert $2k aud equivalnet,

but there is no mention of withdrawing, so I assume, convert and then convert back is fine?

                  • @Samsungnote10: Mine worked today. But i only just found out they don't offer all the currencies that they have on their forex page. I didn't read carefully that they only have the 10. I was actually wanting to use some of those european ones… haha

  • would they send another card for this? or would we have to use the citibank plus debit card? its really unclear.

  • Transferwise and/or Revolut might be better options.

  • Finally got a confirmation email 9 days after. I guess I need to wait for my card to register my account. They've given account numbers to transfer into but probably cant' access the online account

  • Nice just in time

  • Does anyone know how long it takes before Citi sends the email asking for the Flybuys number, after converting the $1000?

    • I bet at least 2 weeks.

    • "within 2 months" according to the t&c… seems reasonable considering how long it takes to open the account..

    • Has anyone gotten the email from citibank requesting for their flybuys number yet? I just converted $1000AUD a few days ago, so just wondering how long people have had to wait to receive their emails.

      • yeah I got mine, like 4 weeks after doing my transactions

        • +1

          great thanks for confirming

      • I got mine on 1st October, 5 weeks after the transaction.

        • cheers. Will give it 4-5 weeks before contacting them.

Okay stupid question. Have opened accounts for myself and my wife. Should we be waiting on new debit cards, or do we have to link the new accounts to our current debit cards our Citi Plus account is on? It's mildly ambiguous with some of the wording when you open an account.

  • first time citibank user here

ive got my accoutn setup, including card,
ive got a unique bsb and acc for each currency

    how do i convert $1000?

    • You would do a transfer between the accounts, the same way as you do a transfer between your own AUD accounts in the apps or online banking for other banks.

So, in the App, tap on the AUD account & then tap on "Make a Transfer".

  • I dont have the app unfortuantely,

do you transfer into your AUD account, and then convert to the foreign currency?

    • That's how I did it. Transferred into the AUD from another bank account.

Then did an internal transfer from the AUD to USD.

You should also be able to do it from the Citibank online banking webpage.

      • ok thanks, will give it a try, have transferred a small amount as a test to the AUD account

was wondering since the foregin currecny account also has a acc number, if you transferred into that one directly from external bank account, it would convert directly?

  • ok, so I did a transfer in and out straight out

    out $1000
    in $968

    $32 loss

    • Which currency ?

      • JPY

        • I lost $81 for converting from AUD to NZD then JPY then USD…lolzzz never going to do it again, AUD is week at the moment

          • @BlackorRed: Why would you go through so many conversions… You're just increasing your losses…

            • +1

@CVonC: Yeah, I did not know that, learnt a lesson and hopefully Citibank gives me Fly buys points

              • @BlackorRed: Holy crap! Guess you thought you could cheap the system and make an extra buck in the process.

                • @nightelves: Just got an email from Citibank that I am eligible for 25k Flybuy point, it took 1 months after I made a deposit into Global current account

                  • @BlackorRed: So you have to convert the money as well? How did you convert it?

                    • @nightelves: Transfer your $1000 into Citibank plus account as normal bank transfer then from there you can just make a transfer to your preferred Citibank foreign available currency which is USD, SGD, NZD, JPY to be eligible for 25k Flybuy points. Don't convert too many currencies as I did because you will lose money…Just like going to Casino and don't know the odds of each game 😄

                      • @BlackorRed: I transferred the $1000 to the Global currency account but it’s still there as AUD.

                        • @nightelves: You need to add foreign currency on your Global account then from there choose your currency to convert it.

                          • @BlackorRed: Do you have to wait for the card to arrive to be able to add foreign currency as I can’t seem to find where to add it on the app.

                            • @nightelves: There isn't a Global account card so you don't need to wait. On the Citibank app, you can see 2 account available and bottom will have an option to add currency. If not, ring up Citibank or Chat with them online to inquiry

  • I've got a Citibank plus account too. After I successfully opened my global currency accounts, I also have an AUD global currency account. Do I need to move funds to my AUD global currency account first BEFORE I transfer to the foreign currency account? Or can I directly move the funds from my Citibank plus to the foreign currency account? (In order for it to be valid for the flybuys points)

    • Also, does it have to be $1000AUD conversion to a single foreign currency or can I break up the $1000AUD to multiple foreign currencies?

      • you can break it up. confirmed via chat with agent

        • thanks for confirming

  • +1

I got a updated terms and conditions notice from citibank

and it said they are removing the following

monthly access fees (citibank currency account )

so I guess the references o monthly service fees is all gone

      • I transferred it back

        Lost $35

        • I have deposited $1000 how do you convert to another currency from there?

          • @nightelves: In online banking the drop fown menu you transfer to one of youe nominated currencies

            Did you nominate currencies?

  • Got the email and just converted USD back to AUD for a loss of $1.
Anyone notice the form states 250,000 flybuys?

    • Yes noticed the same on one of the forms . Looks like someone got slaphappy with the zeroe's :)

    • +1

How did you only lose $1?

      • AUD had a big drop yesterday. Would've made a profit if I had converted back this morning.

        • So are you converting when the AUD is high?

          • @nightelves: Yes, converted AUD to USD about 3 weeks ago when it was around 0.69

        • Depending on when you convert previously. It has 3 cents spread between buying and selling price for USD

  • Got the email too. Thanks OP. 🤗

  • Once you have these Global accounts linked on your Citibank Plus debit card, how does it work with ATMs? Does the ATM give you the option to choose which account you make a withdrawal from?

    • +1

You can choose in the Citi app or online, which account to link your debit card to. And change it on the fly.

      • Thanks for the reply. I can't see that option in the app or online. I can see the 3 global accounts and the Citibank Plus account but nothing about the debit card. Which section is it in?

        • +1

In the app (Android at least) you've got the profile and settings menu, debit card section has an option for "Account Linkage".

It's not the easiest thing to find!

          • @jasonb: Ah yep I see it now, thanks mate :)

FYI all, just got the damn point today, took forever

  • Just got my points too over night

    now to go shopping!

  • Points came through x2 today (like everyone else it seems). Just in time for Velocity transfer bonus season!

  • Hi guys,
I have just applied for the global currency account, currently waiting for the official confirmation.

I went through the discussion on this post but bit confused about how to transfer moneys inbetween to be eligible for the flybuy points…

When I applied for the account, I opted-in for USD & AUD accounts…

So to be eligible - transfer AUD $1000 from my non Citi account to my newly opened citi AUD account, then transfer it to the Citi USD account? As soon as I transfer, it will convert to USD$ ? & I will be eligible hopefully?

    Thanks

    • +1

Yes, once money showed up in your citibank AUD account you simply manually transfer $1000 into USD account, and that's enough to be eligible for 25000 flybuy points.

  • Points finally posted…

  • Points posted on 14/11/2019. Thanks OP.

  • Does anyone get the email for rewards points after 1/Oct?
I just finished transferring on 29/Oct, still waiting for the email.

    • Transferred on 10 Oct; received points on 28 Oct.

      • Thank you very much, Reveen.
I think I need to contact Citibank.

  • Just received my points after claiming 4 days ago. Looks like they all go through on the 28th of the month
