    The ERA Prometheus Tourbillon

    That's a Titanic price…

    • You tried…

  • Titan edition is more my style cheers bargain!

  • The perfect accessory to any supercar!

    • Maybe a 1980's super car. This watch def doesn't match the watch to super car price ratio.

  • Producer Michael did a review of this the other day. Looks like a good watch for the money.

    • Just watched that, looks nice but still about $1900 to much for me. Casio F-91W for the win!

Chinese tourbillon??? where is it made?

    • Probably Seagull or theres another chinese manufacturer, Geckota uses them for their tourbillons

  • Any deals on an Astronomia Octopus?

    Obviously in the Sapphire case.

    Advert or Bargain?

  • Pretty interesting to see that 5 watch "enthusiasts" who up-vote the deal and so far none of them have left any comment

    sarcasm

        badum tish

    • you actually believed they are genuine upvotes hahaha

  • Hmm, I'm a fan of luxury watches but not convinced at this price for this watch. Can anyone comment?

    • Looks like they have a 60 day trial period in case you don't like it.

    • +4

this is not a luxury watch
its a watch using a pretty basic Chinese movement (HZ3360A, based on the HZ3310)

its a watch company making a pretty basic manual wind Tourbillon movement watch, with a pretty good marketing budget

far far from 'luxury' and you could get a much better watch for the $ if you were after something better quality (with less tacky flash)

    • +1

The price is not that bad for a tourbillon watch, although that price would most likely mean the movement is Chinese, but Swiss/German movement would cost at least 100 times more, for a complication that might not carry any practical function, I'd say it's reasonable.

Liked the skeleton design but the "Manual Self-Wind" term doesn't sit well with me, it's like saying a "Manual Automatic Car"

You could also check out http://www.perpetual-watch.com/ they are an independent watchmaker in HK, the design is on the old school side, but quality is impeccable, I have purchased a cheap watch from them a few years ago and was quite happy with it. Can't convince myself to pay for a tourbillon tho (yet lol)

      • It is a Chinese movement

    • Honestly, I'd have not much of a clue. I'm as much of a watch guy as a car guy that has no idea about engines. That being said, I've got a tourbillon from China that cost me $80, looks fantastic still working after 5 years. So if the brand means nothing to you and if the styling doesn't jump out at you. Then I'm not sure if at $1,881.32 aud it's worth it just for being a tourbillon.

Again, I pretty much know nothing about watches!

Many retailers use the term tourbillon when really it's just a visible balance wheel. The cheapest 'flying' tourbillon I am aware of currently is the one I have linked below.

      • +1

I'd wager it's just open heart with an exposed balance wheel. Even many watch guys don't even know the difference.

        • Hey, I think you're both right!

    • Same flying tourbillon movements as the one used in this watch which is only $599 usd

Keep that in mind in terms of value proposition of the watch. Personally, I'd avoid.

  • +2

At this price I'd expect a time-travel option

    • +6

It does - you go home, tell your wife how much you paid for it, et voila, you'll instantly wake up 10 seconds later.

Side-effects might include migraines, giant lump on head, possessions flying out windows.

    • Is that a reference to voyagers?
      (Time travelling pirate tv show)

  • I don't drive Porsche, Maserati or AMG, well i guess it's not for me :'(

    • +2

u don't need this crap, even if drive Porsche, Maserati or AMG

  • Sorry, I'm very sceptical of this watch vs value. tourbillon watch with 20 jewels - 32hr power reserve? maybe I skimmed it and missed it - what's the +/-? 1200 usd, you can get well established watches that are known to be solid tbh.

  • Almost 2 grand? Lets be honest with ourselves, at those dollars its more than just telling the time, it becomes about brand image etc.. and while ERA seems to be an old company, any watch brand that uses Kickstarter doesn't deserve to charge this sort of money.

  • Seiko is better value.

    • Seiko's tourbillon went for $462,000 USD. It was a beautiful watch for sure, but I'd say this is far better value. Not a bad price for a seemingly good quality entry level tourbillon movement.

  • Bargain, until it requires a service or regulation. Good luck with that!

    • Oh hello, Jordan Peterson

    • For a movement only cost 20usd it's better off just replacing the whole

    • True…. service would cost as much as the watch!

  • -1

Cheap for that kind of movement, but there is nothing prestigious about it. Which is what most people who buy a tourbillion would want. Saying that, you dont get a prestigious tourby for under around 40k…

It is more Hyundai N than AMG I think.
