Is Anyone Having an Issue with Telstra NBN at The Moment?

Hi Ozbargainers,

I live in North side of Brisbane, QLD and have been experiencing issues with Telstra for the last 12 hours. I have a stable connection but I am not able to access so many websites today, including few games. I cannot go into Twitch, Steam, imdb and many more. I can access all of them if I use my mobile network.

Tried contacting Telstra but they claim it is my computer despite trying on 4 mobile devices and 3 laptops including the work one. Did all typical restarting a router etc

Was just wondering if anyone else has a similar issue.

  • Have you checked the Telstra Outages page?. That isn't always correct though - a while back it said there was an outage at my address but I had no issues.

    Have you tried factory resetting the router?

    • It says customers are not able to access outlook, funnily enough, Office 365 websites and its apps are not accessible either.

      • Below that click "Internet" and enter your address - that will check the status of your service.
        Let us know what it says.

        • Yea, it says it’s fine. Pretty frustrating not being able to access 50% websites I enjoy going into :/

          • @lookingforTV: Have you factory reset your router? Have you manually set IP/DNS settings on your devices?

  • I get a weird issue like this sometimes (usually when my RCD trips and need a reset). Does your VOIP phone work? Can you see any entries in your modem logs about DNS issues? When it happens to me, it is like I can connect to the network, but 0 traffic actually routes through their gateway.

    Also, do you have the modem with 3G backup? If so, do things start working when you unplug the phone or cable from the modem??

    • I can connect to Google and Youtube and few others. I don’t use voIP phone so cannot check. When I tracer route, one of Telstra’s Brisbane gateway seems unresponsive

  • According to Nicole, very much so. I got 15 calls throughout Friday morning with a follow up human at midday.

      • They automated telephone scammers to an aussie voiced reasonably authentic sounding woman saying she's Nicole from Telstra and the internet is getting cut off in 24 hours.

        • Ha, "Nicole" is the name of the English-Australian voice used by Amazon Polly (text-to-speech). Wonder if that's what they're using.

  • I have the same issue. I have NBN and my speeds are amazing. Even using Orbi to extend the Wifi the seeps are still amazing. However, I still have trouble with things loading. Originally thought it may be an Apple issue.

    However, disconnect from my fast wifi and go to 4g and the pages load in an instant. There is definitely an issue, I just don’t know what it is.
