If you're over 55, $7.80 per month gets you 200 minutes worth of calls, 1GB of data and unlimited SMS/MMS. Exactly the same as their $8.80 plan, except it's for old people.
No international calls or texts included. They're on separate rates.
Optus network.
No upfront costs or lock-in contract.
Voicemail retrievals count against your 200 minute quota. There's FAQ articles on how to turn voicemail on and off.
Obviously not for everyone. This would probably suit someone who has low, but consistent enough usage that they would otherwise end up spending far more than $7.80 per month on PAYG plans.
You'll have to do some maths to see if this is worth it for you. Find the cheapest PAYG rates and have a look at your average monthly call + data usage. If it ends up substantially over $7.80, this may be a better option.
You could also consider shifting some low priority messages from calls/voicemail to SMS/MMS instead, but that's probably a big ask for a lot of old people.
Services such as PushBullet, Google Messages for Web and Microsoft Your Phone can pull texts from your phone onto a bigger computer screen if eyesight or thumb dexterity is an issue.
Voice dictation on your phone is also an option.
If you're not a super hardcore OzBargainist and don't want to stress out your heart about staying under 200 minutes or 1GB, then ExeTel's $8.99 plan is only $1.19 more, offers double the data and has a "Spend Management" function that suspends your data usage for the rest of the month if you run out while your calls + texts will still work fine.
$8.99 is still less than most $10 landline add-ons for unlimited calls and fits in your pocket.

They say it is a "limited time offer", but haven't specified when they would rescind it.

They want you to pay by card direct debit and receive correspondence by email. They offer you the option to pay at the post office or BPay, but they will cost you an additional $2.50 and $1 respectively.
Paper bills will also cost you $2.50 per letter sent.
$25 SIM replacement fee, so it's not for super old people with dementia/Alzheimer's/anything that would cause them to easily misplace SIMs.
