With the outbound calling feature @ 10mb/min can I call any country in the world (inc sat phones) if say I bought the Oceania pack

    • Hi eastern,

I doubt Sat phones would be included, they almost always get caught in the fineprint! Also, the calling feature is only valid with the more expensive Global Data Plans.

Typically most customer just use a VoIP app.

      I hope this helps.

      Regards,

      James

  • I bought the last deal and on the weekend received an email telling that flexiroam are reducing the discounts on local plans at midnight?
What the? Callcloud should have known of this well in advance and advised of this.
    And if not why not?
I haven't even received my sim yet and bam price increase.

    • -1

Probably why they are waiving the activation fee

      • Maybe, but the premise of a rate increase even after purchase and no forewarning shows bad customer service either from Flexiroam or callcloud.
A good business just doesn't raise rates overnight without warning.
If you weren't getting a refund on the Sim it would be bait and switch.
        Still kind of is.

    • hi dasher,

If you bought on a deal on the weekend, you should have received an email with a barcode to link to the SIM so you could scan and purchase data. If not let me know.

I assume you are referring to the email I sent out (which also offered an 20% off discount)

At the time of writing the data plans on our site and in Flexiroam's app have not changed. It's a public holiday in Malaysia, so I won't know much until tomorrow.

The other questions you have are possibly better directed at Flexiroam.

I've had a busy weekend trying to aid my existing customers, (and I'm happy to do the same for you too) but you have to ask.

As always if a customer isn't happy I'm more than happy to refund.

I hope this helps. Happy to chat if you wish, just let me know.

      Regards,

      James

      • It seems that you may have violated reps code of conduct…

And also in your reply show that as a reseller you have no control over the relationship you have with flexiroam.
Flexiroam increasing prices without even giving advance warning to their resellers seems pretty poor.
Secondly you are applying a pressure tactic to 'buy now' if you're worried about price increases.
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt considering you are appearing to be helpful.
However i wanted to forewarn potential customers about flexiroam practices especially if the best prices are 90+ days from travel.

        PM from James.
At the time of writing, CallCloud's prices have not yet changed, nor have Flexiroam's. I received the same notification you did, and notified all of my customers (I have also offered a 20% Off discount).

We make ourselves available pretty much 24/7, so I'm happy to chat anytime.

If you are concerned about missing out on pricing, I encourage you to go to our website and make a purchase.

I can also email you the barcode of your SIM (if I haven't already) so you can activate it prior to physically receiving it in the mail.

        Cheers

        James

        • Hi dasher,

Apologies if I've offended you, I'm just trying to help!

I'm not sure if many reseller's have control in a telco relationship, that's why I typically try to provide good customer service!

I'm not trying to pressure you, (or anyone) into buying, it seemed to me you were aggrieved you wouldn't have the opportunity to buy before the prices went up. I can't control Flexiroam's pricing but I can control my own hence why I suggested my website.

Anyway, if you aren't happy, let me know and I'll refund you.

          Cheers,

          James

  • The prices for this service are out of control. Really difficult to see the value proposition. Buy a 3 UK sim for (near) worldwide roaming on the cheap or otherwise get prepaid sims for the countries you are travelling to.

    • Hi Xyron,

With the eSIM & microchip that Flexiroam have the value is very clear, convenience at a reasonable cost.

Don't get me wrong, the 3 UK Sims are great & so are many others and in many cases they will work out better GB for $.

I admit OzB probably isn't the place & industry to say it isn't all about $/GB!! :)

But that isn't what everyone is after. Many of our customer would never spend $40 on a 3UK sim. They would prefer to use free WiFi and buy a 1GB plan from us for under $10.

The Flexiroam product allows sharing of data plans which adds huge value.

That's not even getting to the sheer convenience of the technology.

Also 71 countries being near worldwide doesn't help in Dubai or anywhere else they dont cover!

      Cheers,

      James

  • Does this support any phone that has esim capability (Pixel 3 for example)?

    • Hi Looploop,

I'm sure I've got customer on a Pixel3, but the official line is a 'no' on Aussie Pixel's for now. I suspect someone probably had a new 3 or 3a that was network locked, but I'll find out and get back to you. Likely tomorrow.

      Cheers,

      CallCloud

      • I did some research apparently Australian Pixel 3's do not support esim :(. Pixel 3a is another story

        • Hi Loopyloop,

Bummer! Here's hoping the Pixel 4's will!

          Cheers,

          James

  • +1

Obviously yet to try out of country. But the purchase and activation went ok, and the refund has been received. Can't really fail
for free. Gives more options when traveling, and looking at AT&T and Verizon prepaid plans. This may be the better deal.

    • How did the refund come through?

      • Once all the activation was done, got the refund back through the original payment method reasonably quickly.

  • Hi Op,
Your instructions suggest 'Purchase Flexiroam X Starter Kit (eSIM)'
I'm on your site and all I can see is 'Global Roaming Data - Starter Kit' and selecting 'eSIM'
Is this the correct product? As the link from your post here goes to an information page as opposed to a 'buy' link.

Also i have both an iPhone XR and iPad Pro 3 - can I use the one esim account on both devices? Or need one each for each device?

Also what confused me is that you have this under each countries pricing:
    Data Expiry Choices
    3 Day | 8 Day | 15 Day | 21 Day | 24 Day
However the plan drop downs are all 24 days, no option for 3, 8, 15, 21.

    • HI ezza,

Thanks for letting me know. Yes that is the right product!

You will need to two eSIM profiles for your devices. The good thing is that you can share a single data plan between them.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,

      James

      • Thanks James… the next question is how do you share it??? Log in with the same details - I'm assuming here.
And I purchase 2, i'm paying for 2 and getting 2 full refunds?
Also not sure if you saw my msg about the 3 day, 8 day etc above.

        • Ahhhh yes, sorry my bad… I'm getting around to fixing those!! In the Flexiroam App they have more data plan options available. I was going to put them all on, but it broke that calendar function I put it so I had to roll it back!

Hang with me I'm getting there!! :) (The app is much better!!) (Probably becuase I didnt build it!)

            • @Flexiroam: Thanks i'll look into this after I purchase the 2nd eSIM service ;)

          • @Flexiroam: No worries… great! I can see some excellent rates on there.
Is there a whole of Asia plan? Ie i'm going to Hong Kong & Philliphines in 2 months time and I noticed Europe has a plan for certain counties in one but none for Asia a whole.

I've just purchased one eSIM, I'm assuming I need to buy another with a different email for my other device?

            • @ezza: Correct!
Only Jakota (Japan South Korea Taiwan)
and Greater China (China, HK & Phi)

And warning Flexiroam have advised they are increasing prices soon!

              Cheers,

              James

              • @Flexiroam: I can't see this one:
and Greater China (China, HK & Phi)

I can see it is as China, HK and Macau in one

                • @ezza: sorry my error, doing 6 things at once. its macau

                  • @Flexiroam: Cool thought so!

                  • @Flexiroam: OKay I believe I'm up and going on my XR… the status on the app is 'Connected'

I paid with PayPal - when does it refund?

I'm about to purchase a pack for Hong Kong and noticed its 23% off in the app

                    • +1

                      @ezza: Hi ezza,

Apologies, tribal council was pretty intense tonight!

                      Refund processed!

That's probably a code for global data. Try 8DDVJ7 for 20% of Local ;)

                      Cheers,

                      James

                      • @Flexiroam: Yes just did.. managed to get 3Gb in HK for 8 days after discount at $3.40 USD… ummm this is a bargain! better than playing SIM roulette when I get there.

I think you need to update your site with all the different prices.. I'm sure some OzB members will see value in it.

Whats the diff in purchased through your site vs. the app?

  • This is really (profanity) confusing. Just spent 5 mins trying to figure out how this works and can't. Rep, if you must link to an info page can you put some links there so I know what and where to buy. Better yet put them in the post description itself.

I currently have an XR but will be getting an XS. Do I need 2 eSIMS or can I use the same barcode when I switch over.

    • Hi Zazer,

      Sorry, hopefully it's better now..

You will need 2 eSIMs I'm afraid. If you purchase the 2nd one now, just make sure you email me when you switch over!

      Cheers,

      James

  • +1

iPhone compatible only? Ie no androids, just confirming?

    • HI txb,

It is looking that way at the moment, I'm sorry. Unsure why Aussie Pixels are no good. Will check with Flexiroam tomorrow (they had a public holiday today).

I'll do an ask around with existing customers too.

      Cheers,

      James

  • microchip sim sticker, eSim, surely next is normal sim right ;)

    • Hi Cronium,

Seems to be a pattern there. ;) But eSIMs don't need postage! God. Bless. eSIMs!!

Besides this was really a get rid of stock because I got waay too many microchips. Everyone loves normal SIMs, I'm not sure why? I figure most of those types would be just getting those 3UK SIMs that everyone else sells online?

      Anyway stay posted!!

      Cheers,

      James

  • Hey Op, brought the 2nd one for the iPad pro.
Scanned the QR code etc… steps 4, 5 & 6 don't need to be the same on the iPAD - these options aren't there.
I went in and added APN as 'flexiroam' turned off wifi and i'm sitting on Optus, went into the the flexiroam app and it shows connected.
So i'm assuming its okay and done? Also assuming to toggle between my Telstra SIM and this one, is to just tap the 'Mobile Plans' as 'Telstra, or 'Carrier-Carrier' (when you tap on 'Manage Carrier Account' it only gives me the option to remove it, not edit or rename it.

    • Hi Ezza,

I saw you come up as 'activated' and have refunded you. Thanks for the info, you are my 1st iPad. I'll see if I can get the documentation updated!

Thanks again for your orders, first double eSIM.

Hope thing have calmed down in HK before you arrive!

      Cheers,

      James

      • +1

Hehe - I'm always up to try something new and this seems like a good deal.
Yeah I'm not 100% sure if I've missed anything when activating the options are definitely not the same as an iPhone
Data seems to work (and it lost the APN settings even after I stored them, but it still worked).
Now to work out how to share data between them - which it will be homework for when I get there.

Thanks again! Might in contact to get a new QR code as I plan on upgrading my phone soon.

        • Cheers!

          • @Flexiroam: One last question if I have my line 2 on (which is flexiroam) for data whilst I’m overseas, will I still receive calls on my line 1 which is my usual Telstra sim which will be roaming (which I’m totally fine with)?

            • @ezza: Hi ezza,

I believe it is similar to a dual SIM in that way.

However there is dual sim dual standby and dual sim dual active with eSIM.

Probably some more homework for me (or guinea pigging for you). But, they've been out in the wild for a few months now.

I believe as long as you have 2nd line for data you'll be fine!

              Cheers,

              James

              • +1

@Flexiroam: Okay no worries I’ll give it a test run when I’m away in October

  • In China does this allow facebook ?
When i buy the travel sims i get full western access in china which is really useful

    • Hi unifex,

      Good question!

Yes, you do! Most Travel SIMs will VPN outside of China (including ours).

      Regards,

      James

      • On the on the sim corner one i buy i dont need to do the vpn the traffic goes around the firewall because the plan is hosted in thailand.

        • Hi unifex,

Yes ours is the same. Via the UK

  • I got the eSim from flexiroam
but when i try to activate it i get
this code is invalid. Please check the code and try again.

    • Hi unifex,

I'll check your order for you.

      Regards,

      James

      • Hi unifex should be OK. Email me if there are any issues.

        Regards,

        James

        • nope still doesnt work

  • Is there anything that we have to do to get the refund?

I've activated it in the Flexiroam app however I'm not sure if I've got to do anything else?

    • Hi henrus,

I'll check and see if you are active.

      Regards,

      James

      • Hi henrus,

I think I know which order is yours, but can't be 100% sure. Suffice to say all eSIMs ordered thus far that have completed the activation have been refunded.

There are a few that have been 'scanned' but have not connected the Flexiroam network.

I will contact those that have not fully completed the activation process later on today, but of course always feel welcome to contact us.

If you need assistance in setting up, you can use the in App chat to get support directly from Flexiroam or by contacting them at: [email protected]

        I hope this helps.

        Regards,

        James

        • I'm order number 1285.

Think I've done it correctly. Nothing has appeared in the bank app yet.

          • @henrus: Hi Henrus,

I'm sorry yours still isn't active. Check you have 'data roaming' switched on when you try to connect.

I'm not sure who your normal carrier is here, but Flexiroam use Vodafone in Australia if that helps.

Failing this, probably best to contact [email protected]

(or via their in App Chat support)

I hope this helps, as soon as I see you I'll refund you.

            Regards,

            James

            • @Flexiroam: Cheers just tried again and loaded google successfully using the flexiroam sim (hopefully that worked)… Oddly when I tried to activate it last time it was connected to Optus.

              • +1

@henrus: Just got the refund email so I guess all good.

Thanks for your help… if only all businesses had this level of customer service.

              • +1

                @henrus: Hi Henrus,

                You got there, well done!

I do know that they use to use both Optus & Vodafone here, but last time I checked it was only Vodafone.

They have ~580 carriers they use globally, which can be view at www.flexiroam.com/coverage

UAE will be added from 1 September. The data isn't super cheap, but it's a really tough country to get access to.

Thanks again for your order and your perseverance!

All the best on your future travels!

                Regards,

                James

  • Hi Op, I have purchased and activated two days ago through the link here, but I haven’t got any refund yet. Could you please check? Let me know if you need any further information.

    • Hi quark,

If you could respond with order number ir to my email, I’ll track down your order.

      Thanks,

      James

      • Just got a refund email. That’s quick! Thx op!

        • Boom!

How was the setup, I’m yet to join the eSIM revolution.

Still have a few others hanging out there not activated yet..

          I’ll email those people tonight,

          Cheers

          James
