          "SCAM RISK"

          (Not really, of course…
          but they could be more
          transparent, ie, about

How Many (of the offered 500
          Remain, by including a counter
on the first page of the Apply
          subsite… IMO, they should!

        • "Mutually owned" companies usually pay no dividends. The idea is that they offer 'cheaper' products because they don't have to add a profit margin for dividends.

(There could be a special dividend in some rare circumstances, e.g. if the company converts from a mutual to a for-profit.)

      • Got my card today, with
No hint of whether it was
        in the "First 500"

So, I rang to ask if it was.

        I was told:

        • IF you are, you'll be told
          early in September (No specific
          date was given), by phone.

If Not, you won't hear from us
        (just like a Job application)

        • You'll also need to deposit
$1,500 / mon [for more than 1 mon]

(I didn't read about that, here.
Perhaps OP & the rest of us missed
        that point…?) :-/

        Anyway, it doesn't sound like
the kind of Bank I'd like to
do business with, so I won't.

People haven't even gotten their $50 from last promotion?

    • Being -post- Royal Commission on Banking…

IF they drag their feet, with your $50:
      0. make sure their bank has committed to the New "Code of Conduct"
      1. remind 'em (they're supposed to be Customer-Focused)
      2. let 'em know you Tweet…
      3. let 'em know you'll lodge a complaint if they can't get it in FAST

      Don't take No for a Customer-Centered answer

PS I left ~$10.00 at Bendigo Bank a few years ago
Since then, I moved to a place w/out a Bendigo branch

I asked how to get my $$, now, a few "dime" more, by "generous" interest
      I was told: We'll cut & send you a cheque; fee: $10.00
I asked for any & all options, & was told: No other / cheaper options
(but that was After she'd mentioned that I also have an Internet a/c)

After noting that she'd OMITTED the cost-free Internet transfer Option,
they had to waive the fee.

Of course, I still lost something much more valuable than $10: MY TIME

(It took 3 calls, last being a call-back with the fee-waive deal)

So: Switch to & Stay with "ING Bank"… You'll save BOTH Time & $$, IMO.

Exception: They have cut their interest rates, if you save heaps, maybe you'd do better elsewhere…?

So for the 20x transactions, how can we do? Buy 20x cans of sardines, in 20 repetative 69c paywave transactions. That's a half hour's work minimum isn't it?
Banks are nuts. Next they'll give flybuy points for making over 1000 debit purchases per month.

Good for people that buy coffee 5 days a week i guess

Just split your transaction at the POS in to twenty 1 cent payments and then pay the rest however you usually would.

      • Seems Time-Consuming to me…

          Takes time to earn $50

    • You'd only have to use it on average once per weekday to get 20 transactions per month

      Give tax-deductible $2 donations to
10x Charities, that you'd like to
      support…

…& spend the rest of your $50 (if
you get it quickly enough) on small
items you'd buy thru the month

      OR

(if you don't need or wouldn't get
      any value from a $2 tax-deduction):

Donate $1 to each of 20 charities
      of your choice.

      • How do you donate to charity using a debit card?

        edit: nevermind

For the purpose of this promotion a Debit Transaction includes NPP fast payments; direct
debits; Visa Debit Card purchases and payWave transactions, BPAY payments; and cash
withdrawals of any type (Debit Transactions).

  • Do you receive notification if you are within the first 500 applicants?

    • Says the eligibility will be assessed in Oct.. so I'd say no you won't get notified until after

      • Makes sense. Reading carefully it's basically first 500 to apply and complete the requirements. There's a chance not all applicants will do the requirements.

      • Really?

Then, it better be an AI that does the assessments,
both for cost-effectiveness (for the Bank) -AND-
to help bring the $50 sooner, to ur shiny new a/c's.

  • Annoying you have to wait for the cards to be mailed to you. Digital wallet would be easier. It took long enough doing 2 lots of 5 transactions for the couple of Westpac Choice cards at the self checkout at Woolies. 2 lots of 10 transactions is a decent 15 minutes I reckon and a very annoying self service machine lady talking to you.
(They are filtering out the lazy orzbargainers like me!)

    • +1

Annoying you have to wait for the cards to be mailed to you.

The transactions have to be done in September, so we'll have to wait until then anyway.

      Speaking DELAYS…

If you use AusPost to deposit
      (even a Bank-)cheque to Heritage:

      Your interest begins to accrue
      AFTER they get the cheque…!
      ie, Not after AusPost records
the amount of the cheque (as if)
      to your destination a/c (via
      your Visa card…!

      WHAT WOULD JESUS^H^H^H^H^H ING DO…? ;~)

      NOW, IN CANADA…

Some banks let you TAKE A PHOTO
of your cheque, eg, w/ your SMART-
phone. They credit your a/c as soon
      as the foto is entered.

      (I presume they interpret barcodes
      on the cheque)

      Now, THAT's SERVICE!!! :~)

      AU needs more CA…!!!

Both in Banking… AND… Nuclear Energy
(In the latter category, AU should wait
      for more Cost-Effective Liquid-Fuel MSRs
      + Molten Salt Reactors)

This is a scam they are running. I opened account in the previous round and spend in 2 months, each 20 transaction.

Guess what, I didn't hear anything from them, not even an acknowledgement or an email saying you were not one of the first 1500…

    • +6

They even got $1 of mine on 'pending' for more than 1 month and won't release it.

      • +2

It's amazing that someone at Heritage thinks it's a good idea to attract new customers with an offer like this, and then to treat the new customers in such a bad way.

The proper way to do it, is with something like HSBC's open-ended 2% cashback. It's real good value, and the cashback is credited almost instantly, and there's no end date, so now I'm seriously thinking of changing my bank from CBA to HSBC.

So, the right way is to offer a product with real good value & treat people well. Then, the new customers who are attracted by the offer will think that the Bank offers good value products & will also check out what else the Bank offers.

      • +1

the $1 is a member share. you get it back whenever you close your accounts

        • I actually got the 50 promotional bucks soon after my comment here

    • +3

Looks like they're treating you like heritage

    • erm… there was a $2500 per month minimum spend as well… New high for these bank offers.

      • I actually got the email today; so I should expect $50 by the end of month

  • after i enter my details it keeps looping me back to https://www.heritage.com.au/

    • Try another browser.

  • +2

Don't sign up. Got burn on the last run.
They blocked my card for making small transactions and never refund my deposit when I close account.
I ended up losing money on this deal.

  • Now I have to go to the post office to verify my ID. What a joke!

    • They wanted that from me too. I sent them an email as I verified online, said to close acct instead!

  • did 0.10c sales on ebay and my card was blocked for making small transactions…… might have to spend 50c to a dollar each transaction to get this to work….

  • Worst banking experience in Australia! :-(

Tried to make the transactions today & got declined. For some reason, my account shows as $100 as the actual balance, but available balance is $0. (I haven't made any transactions except the $100 deposit.)

Have to call them tomorrow to find out WTF is going on.

    This deal sucks.

    • +1

Your account might be frozen like mine was. It needed ID verification in person or Auspost. Their online systems don't flag ID errors on the account creation like other banks.

    • +1

You have to go to post office or JP to verify your ID.

      • Thanks.

Yeah, they confirmed I'd have to get my ID verified old-school style by collecting 100 pts of ID.

So much work, and I might not even get the $50 at the end of it.

        • Visited the post office on Tuesday & did my ID check. It's now Saturday, but my account is still frozen. :-(

Dealing with Heritage is so annoying.
