  • Guys, my apologies. I inadvertantely left off one very important note in the terms (now added)…

    (5) Payment must be made by 'tapping' or choosing the 'Credit' option. 'Savings' or 'Cheque' will not track.

    • So tapping a debit Visa card is ok?

Also are purchases of GC ok? Thanks TA

    • +1

      I selected savings… zzzzzz

    • "tapping" doesn't always work now. Some cards you can select to route it through the Australian EFTPOS scheme instead of the Visa network scheme. See eftpos Tap & Pay™ | eftpos Australia

Good deal, but really hard to find non wollies brand caltex these days..

    • It was a challenge finding woolies caltex when they started doing the 4c receipt, now they have a deal for non woolies and it's hard to find them now lol.

Weren't there some general tell tale signs of how to spot if one is/isn't a woolies?

      • +1

There's a difference between Star*mart stores and Woolworths branded/owned ones. Some Starmart stores have Woolworths banners but they're still eligible for Cashback. Please check the list. If a store is listed then Cashback is eligible.

        • Would a starmart store possibly accept wish gift cards? Or should the ones on the list not accept wish GC?

          • +1

@knobbs: I've been caught out by this - no they don't - even though there was some kind of Woolworths signage out the front!

(You can by Caltex Starcash gift cards (5% off) using the Suncorp app and maybe via other methods.)

Edit: You need to pay with your Visa Card at the servo to get the cashback, so the gift-card route will defeat the porpoise.

    • +1

Yeah, there's only 750+ of them

  • -1

We can recharge our Opal cards 😏

  • Does it stack with in-store promotions e.g. extra cents off fuel when buying products etc?

    • +1

For sure. Provided the amount charged to your Visa is $50 or more, you're good to go.

  • Great! Thanks. $5 back for every $50 on diesel is a great deal.

  • I assume no issues if I link my card, and pay with Google pay?

    • +3

      (4) Pay with the activated Visa card, or with associated Apple or Google Pay wallets.

      • Good to know. Some car parks don’t recognize the Apple Pay cards as the numbers are different to the actual cards. Having said that, mine hasn’t tracked yet.

  • Perfect! Thanks OP. I'll stack this with my Hyundai 10c per litre discount that still seems to be available.

edit: List seems to be the same as the outlets participating in the NRMA, Hyundai and Toyota fuel discounts.

  • Usually when using an asterisk ✳, it's elaborated on.

I take it this is the part to watch out for

Applies to 750+ Caltex Petrol Stations nationally excluding Woolworths branded Caltex outlets.

Hi TA, can you confirm if Woolies branded Caltex outlets are excluded? I can see 2 locations (Thornleigh and Waitara) that seem to be Woolies branded but they are listed in the participating stores in the Cashrewards page. Thanks!

    • +1

Hi sigplay. The list of 750 eligible stores has been provided by Caltex. The two stores in question are branded Star*mart stores and for the purposes of Cashback, are definitely eligible. Please stick to the list, and if the outlet is shown then you're good to go :)

      • Ta the HEATHCOTE 1344 PRINCES HIGHWAY is amongst the participating stores as per website, however it is a Woolworths branded one. Will it be ok to spend the $50 there? Thanks!

        • +1

Hi fozzie, as above. This is not a "Woolworths branded" outlet as such. It's a Star*mart store. If it's on the list, it's a goer :)

      • +1

        Thanks TA!

    • Thornleigh is co-branded but doesn't take egift cards (so co-branded for 4c but not a woolies store) but you can get Myerone points through it.

Keep an eye on prices though, BP at Normanhurst normally has better prices (even including 4c) than Thornleigh Caltex, so do your maths for which one will cost you less. The NSW FuelCheck app is useful for anyone doing similar calculations.

      • Yeah we actually never fill up in Thornleigh as they aren't competitive. Thanks for the tip! Is FuelCheck similar to Gas Buddy? I have Gas Buddy but haven't used it much recently due to the 7-11 app

        • Yeah, similar thing to Gas Buddy. There are a number of apps that report current fuel prices (NRMA has one as well I believe)

FuelCheck is straight from the Gov though, give good tending data so you can see what the fuel cycle is like in your area and lets you put in your travel route and points out the cheapest price for your fuel time on the way (you can say I want the cheapest diesel fuel within 500m or within 5k etc)

Used it this morning as prices are just turning, saw Thornleigh 40c more expensive than the Coles Express next to it. Found the closest one that hadn't altered their price this morning yet and filled up.

  • -1

Nice, brings Caltex to around 7 Eleven price.

    • Strangely, the cheapest place for Diesel on the whole of the Gold Coast is the Caltex on Ferry Rd, Southport (140.9c), but unfortunately it's not included in this promotion.

Cheaper to use this place with the discounted gift cards than the nearest participating place which is 151.9c

    Stacks with myToyota app

  • Does it work with Caltex FuelPay App to save 6 cents using this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/410549

    • I think you need to pay in-store for Cashrewards to track.

  • The 3 Caltex's in my home > work area are all non-Woolies stores but still all excluded. Bummer.

  • Does anyone know if it stacks with this deal: Westpac Extras Offers. Get $5 Cashback When You Spend $50 or More at Caltex Star Mart - OzBargain

It does say only 1 cashback offer per merchant.

    • Ok I've received my Westpac Extras cashback but not my Cashrewards yet. There still is another 7 days to track though.

      • isnt westpac mastercard? this is visa…

        • Brisdaz wrote on 07/08/2019 - 12:13:

@knobbs: Mine is a Visa platinum card upgraded from a Mastercard virgin ignite. This was a few years ago.

      • It's been more then 7 days (14 days in total) and it hasn't tracked yet. It's time to contact CashRewards support.

UPDATE: Contacted CashRewards support and got a ticket number but I'll have to wait up to another 14 days on top for there response. Some suggestions on claim workflow:

        1. Put the visa credit card number as a drop down box - you already have the last 4 digits. Make it easy for us to claim.
        2. Let us copy and paste or drag and drop into the file upload box like with Google Photos, Imggur and others.
        • +1

          Excellent customer service by Cashrewards

Thanks to TightArse my followup claim was responded to within 2 hours! I really wasn't expecting less then say 3 day average response time as you have to contact the retailer but based on the photo receipt it's in my cashrewards account now. I can get payout within 90 days (from transaction or claims I'm not sure) but anyway a happy customer.

I did PM him these suggestions as he may have missed it but I still wasn't expecting this level of service!

Isn't it risky to add your visa card to cashrewards, for a $5 cashback?

    • +7

Hi, you have nothing to be concerned about. Your Visa details are not captured or stored by Cashrewards. Your card details are encrypted, captured and stored by Visa alone from your secure browser session, and we do not pass this back to our system. Once your card is linked, Visa then sends us the last 4 digits for reference. Hope this helps.

      • Unfortunately, we enter it on your site and not a pop out that has visa’s address, so we can’t really know.

      • The last 4 digits from Apple Pay will be different to the physically linked card. How would you verify? I’m still waiting for the tracking since last Sat.

        • Visa will verify the purchase once we lodge the claim, provided you first linked the physical card and activated the offer.

  • can you pay via the caltex app at the pump or do you need to go in store? good offer if it stacks with the westpac $5 cash back offer for those that were targeted.

    • Westpac are MasterCard aren't they?

      • It depends when you received the card. Mine is Visa.

        • When did you get your card oO?

          • @knobbs: Mine is a Visa platinum card upgraded from a Mastercard virgin ignite. This was a few years ago.

            • @brisdaz: I got altitude black at the end of 17. Guess different CC products they might swap them over.

    • You must pay in-store at the terminal with the activated Visa card or with associated Apple or Google Pay wallets, else the sale won't track.

  • +4

If you’re in Brisbane and Sydney fill up soon while prices are cheap. If you’re in Adelaide wait a couple of weeks. If you’re in Melbourne then wait 3 or 4 weeks. If you’re in Perth fill up Mondays. If you’re in Darwin, Canberra or Hobart then you don’t need to worry about fuel price cycles. Source.

  • TA does this exclude Caltex star mart as my local is not on the list

    • Hi sa-ozzie. Not every Caltex outlet is eligible. It needs to specifically be on the participating list. If it's not, unfortunately there's nothing we can do about it. Sorry :)

  • Do Caltex sell any gift cards?

    • Yes they do
This was going to be my question, buying gift cards of $50 and more is ok? Not excluded is it @TA?
      Thanks

      • That would be amazing! What gift cards do they sell?

          • @Charlie Dont Surf: Im referring to buying a caltex GC in store!

            • @Ricky83: Gotcha, I think…!

Just struggling to see what the benefit is? They won't be discounted gift cards (as is the case with the Suncorp app etc). Is it to get the maximum 3 cashbacks within the month?

      • Does Caltex sell any gift cards other than their own Caltex StarMart gift cards?

        • I just purchased 2x $30 Amazon gift cards

          • @godzilla123: Did yours get approved?
I purchased amazon gift cards too and mine were declined!

I noticed TA didn’t answer the question whether buying gift cards is excluded…

  • Work with Samsung pay registered Visa Cards?

  • Shame Caltex is amongst the priciest of all the servos. Filling up just over $50 is the way to take full advantage of this.

    • Quite good if you don't have any 7/11's. A few of my local Caltex do really good takeaway 😉

      • +2

7/11’s aren’t cheap either nowadays :(. I find that I can get cheaper fuel using Woolworths Caltex with the 5% gift cards, because it’s generally equivalent to somewhere between 6-8c off per litre.

Might do some 2% HSBC + $5 Cashrewards for a bit tho.

  • bugger I don't have a Visa… will we see more deals from Cashrewards for Mastercard?

  • Can't link my Visa Revolut card shows up as an error. Anyone else with the same issue?

    • +1

i guess its not an Australian issued card that is why it doesn't qualify. just buy a prepaid visa card at a supermarket. or better still get the hsbc global card for 2% cash back with tap and pay. btw i pm you some questions about the Revolut card as im interested and getting one too.

  • Fyi you can't pay your Toyota discount with physical gift card, but you can pay with starcash digital gift card

  • -1

    $30 Woolworths shop = -4c = $1.50 (approx)
    $30 Woolworths petrol station shop perchase = -4c = $1.50 (approx)
    Cash rewards 5% discount = $2.5

    Discount $5.50 on a $50 spend.

Can't see why this deal is better.

    • +1

Because you can stack discounts with this deal. See here. Also, this is not just for fuel, but anything in-store.

  • Nambour, 19/21 Rigby St, has been included in the list but I thought it was an unmanned station using only paying at pump. This would make (4) Pay in-store (not at pump) with the activated Visa card, or with associated Apple or Google Pay wallets imposable to do. Is that correct? Thanks.

  • no visa card

Well that was quick to register, got an email a few minutes after paying for my fuel ;)

One lodged another 2 to go !

use this offer to get extra $1 off on top

  • just noticed some Caltex in the participating list are … Woolworths branded??? take Casino in NSW for example when we travelled from Coffs to Byron, we did use Woolies Rewards card as well as fuel voucher discount of 4c per L too, would it be still an eligible expense?

  • I can link my Visa card. I tried numerous time but still can't activate the offer…

    • Still no luck, anyone has the same problem? Or the max has been reached?

  • Who has CashRewards that would like to send me a refer code so they get a bonus for signing me up? I'm about to join it now :)

    • +1

Hi. Don't think you can solicit referrals, but if you click near the very top of this post, you'll find a referral links sections (in grey) where you can allocate one randomly to an OzB member. Also, you should add your own link (after you've signed up to CR) so you can get random referrals going forward :)

      • +1

Youre the best! Just learnt something awesome on OzBargain. Really appreciate that!

        • +1

Pleasure. Feel free to ask away any time :)

      • Just be careful. When you use the online referral Cashreward tells the referrer the email address used by the referee.

        • Yeah I noticed! Seems to be a bit of a privacy issue hey..

  • Has anyone had their purchase tracked yet?

    • Still waiting after 7 days

    • Still waiting 8 days.

    • Mine tracked within 5 minutes after paying at the servo.

    • It can take up to 14 days apparently.

  • Still waitingg

    • Hi cuteduck. We’ve had a few claims come through where members had not activated the offer. If that’s not the case for you, please lodge a claim via your click history and the team will take care of it. Please ensure you provide the last 4 digits of your CC and a copy of the invoice :)

Edit: please check your CR account for the transaction in case your tracking email landed in your spam folder.

      • How do I make a claim as there is no click history for the transaction?

        • Don’t know what I was thinking lol. You are right - of course there’s no click for in-store. Please lodge a claim here.

          • @tightarse: I submitted a ticket. Both my transactions have not tracked yet. 7th Aug and 19th Aug (yesterday)

          • @tightarse: Hi TA, I’m on Day 11. Do I need to wait till after Day 14 to lodge a claim? Also, would a screenshot of the credit card transaction suffice? It shows the amount, the date, the petrol station name, the Apple Pay last 4 digits and the linked Visa card last 4 digits. Thanks!
