Xiaomi Region/Server issue with roborock s5 and AI doorbell cam

Hi guys,

So I have been using roborock vacuum in my house for over a year without ANY issues. This was on Singapore region.

I decided to purchase an AI doorbell from the same company. Xiaomi. Now I didn’t have any option to add this camera by either searching for product or manually scanning QR code. So I switched to China region, doorbell works fine no problems. But roborock keeps saying please select the region and reset wifi.

Does any know what I can do?

Have tried resetting Wi-Fi a few times already.

  • You need to switch back to Singapore region to use your roborock via the app
Then switch back to China region to use your camera.
Looks like there’s a region restriction.

    • That defeats the purpose of getting notifications I guess?

      • Yes. There's a couple of threads on the mi forums discussing the same thing. Looks like that's the only way to go unfortunately.

        • Thanks. I’ll go through that forum.

  • +1

Use something like Parallels to run to versions of mi home woth each region.

    • Parallels on iOS? I couldn’t find it.
      Never heard of it before.

      • Android. It's called Parralel space. not sure if there is an equivalent on iOS.

        • Okay let me do some research. Thanks

    • Thanks for the tip! I have similarly spilt region Xiaomi devices. After reading your comment I dug around my phone and I used "dual apps" functionality on my Xiaomi mix 2s phone to install a second Xiaomi home app and set it to the second server.

  • I was having a similar issue, with my international version of the vacuum, and the chinese version of the home security kit. I tried Parallel space but couldn't really get it to work. In the end, I gave up and setup Home Assistant on my NAS. Now I just control everything through that, bypassing the app and all the regions.
