Seeing the Mighty Ape deal post today made me think surely Amazon would at least be the same price if not cheaper. Sure enough, they've not only matched it, but beat it by a dollar + have it as part of their "Prime Savings" offer, which gives an additional $5 off, making it $63. Not to mention the added benefits of their great customer service and pre-order price guarantee which quite often gets triggered in my experience.

Don't forget to use your preferred cashback service to bring this down even lower. Also would be worth using a price-protection card on a game like FIFA as the price drops like a rock 11-12 months after release (for example, if you bought/pre-ordered FIFA 19 on release for ~$69, you would have still been able to claim price protection last month when Kogan sold the game for $19… Effectively meaning you got to play and enjoy the game for a year and then be refunded $50 just before the new one comes out).

Also, credit to @endlessZonk for spotting the Switch version for $54 with Prime.

which card has 12-month price protection? that's a long time. and ripe for abuse.

    • +1

28 Degrees. The price protection policy is great for video games. I don't buy yearly franchise games these days, but it would be ideal for those.

    • Pretty sure 28 degrees is best for that sort of thing.

Should help you in your price protection search

As the others have said, 28 Degrees is the one I use, solely for buying "wants" for lack of a better word (eg. games, phone, other tech-related stuff, etc).

Not only does it have 12-month price protection, but also 12-month product insurance.

Coles Mastercard used to offer price protection but no longer do so, unless you are a current member who already had it enabled before it was removed.

Another option is the CC provided by Gem, it has the same price protection and insurance features as 28deg however with a much lower credit limit ($1000 vs $6000).

Yep it's great for video games. I buy nearly every game full price brand new and then claim the inevitable price drop and sell it on gumtree. Usually end up only costing a few dollars out of pocket for AAA games.

      • Is it easy to claim? Or is it an hour hassle?

        • Nah super easy just fill out an online form. Takes 10 minutes at the most

I would avoid this game. As most would not know, EA lied and baited over 100,000 people into thinking they would receive a free TOTS pack for watching their eWorld Cup stream. It has caused backlash and people have been boycotting this game for EA lying to their customers. So please avoid this game and stay with FIFA 19 or buy PES 2020 instead if you really want to latest edition.

    • I got the free pack. Plenty of others did too.

Those that didn't I bet didn't register correctly for the campaign. So pretty harsh reaction if you're not buying the game because of this.

more interested in gameplay. Have they invested more into Career Mode? or are they still gungho on the ultimate team stuff

      • +3

Think we all know the answer to that, unfortunately…

    • I got my TOTS pack too.. lol

Piemonte Calcio just doesn't sound the same…

Also the Switch version is $59 ($54 with prime) which is pretty decent considering how much FIFA 19 was going for when not on sale: https://www.amazon.com.au/Electronic-Arts-FIFA-20/dp/B07SR1FXRH

  • Is the champions edition on special with VVD on the cover?

    • Champions Edition is $94-$5=$89 as well, which also makes it the cheapest price available currently.

How is this better than FIFA 19?

    • +4

      20 is greater than 19

      • -1

        Bigger isn't always better though…

      • last time I played was FIFA 98, five time better than this then.

      • 19 is Prime, 20…not so much.

    • +2

It comes with a new hat!

      • -1

        Cool…

    • You could ask why it's better than FIFA 17 too.

      • -1

I'm trying to work out if it's worth upgrading.

        • +1

          Have not upgraded since 18…

          • @tightm8: That's what I'm using too…

    • Because in FIFA20, Real Madrid has Hazard, Juventus has De Ligt, Barcelona has Griezmann, and Manchester United has McGuire.

      • But FIFA 20 doesn’t have Juve.😜

  • Hope they fix the game

I've given PES2020 Demo a go and found it to be way more realistic than Fifa, mostly the physics of the game. The player's interaction with the ball and the other players is way more advanced. I'm more into simulation than arcade (in Fifa I liked Seasons a lot more than UT's crazy gameplay) but this year I'll switch again. And my life football gaming saga will be: FIFA94 - 99 >> PES4 - 2009 >> FIFA10 - 19 >> PES2020

Haha, that is pretty much my soccer gaming life too. PES6 sticks out in my mind as being the most played, can’t remember why though. Maybe just too many online sessions.

      • "peak of time to spare" would probably be your answer

        • You are bang on!

  • Sorry, wrong button.

  • I miss FIFA lounge :( i think it was last in FIFA12. The sountracks have deteriorated over time too.

    • Loved 12's soundtrack, played it so much that I can literally recite every song on it off by heart. Even the ones in other languages lol (Ich bin so schön verstrahlt is the best pre-drop line don't @ me).

I do feel there's a bit of nostalgia associated with the majority of people always preferring the older soundtracks. To be fair to EA, 19 had some good songs in it, and I prefer hearing entirely new songs/artists like 'Consistent' by No/Me vs Billie Eilish.

  • those who made this impulse purchase normally regret.

    • Not really, can easily resell on ebay for $5-10 dollar loss at the most.

      • $5-10 dollar loss

When do you sell for that loss margin? 1 week after the release?

JB is selling for $69 click 'n' collect with no commitment (if they don't have it on the release day, simply go to other shops); with this preorder via Amazon or any other online shops, you're leaving yourself prone to their stock delay. There's many occasions in the past where people who preordered had theirs cancelled and purchased from brick and mortar shops, simply because they have got the tangible stock; pay, bring it home, download any online package needed and bob's your uncle.

  • Played the eSport PES 2020 last night. Can’t say I’m impressed. Feels too arcadey to me. The ball just pings here and there too easily.
Might be FIFA for me again.
